Defaced Hanyu Pinyin MRT signage?

I’ve heard that some Taipei County politician last week rounded up some TV crews and went to deface some of the MRT’s new Hanyu Pinyin signage.

Can anyone provide more information or links to media reports (in any language).

I seriously doubt whether those stupid politicians can tell the difference between Hanyu pinyin and any other spelling, unless they happen to come across a placename with an “X” in it, e.g. Xinzuang or Xindian.
