The first civilian defense minister of the Ma administration, Yang Nien-tsu (楊念祖) (goes by the English name Andrew), announced his resignation tonight after less than a week on the job. He took over from Kao Hua-chu (高華柱), who stepped down over the controversy surrounding the death of a conscript (but you all know that story).
Apparently, he quit because it’s surfaced that his thesis (Masters? Doctoral?) was plagiarized, and he said he doesn’t want to bring any more controversies to the military.
Discuss.
