I’m married etc… have lived here the required time and have permananet residency (as long as I stay 183/365days).
My brother in Canada is interested in coming over and was wondering whether my permanent residency could aid him in any way, ie. to stay or work here?
You mean does your APRC provide for dependents other than a spouse? Maybe, I’m not sure. But he definitely won’t be able to work on the strength of your APRC.

Well how is it that your brother is your dependent? That’s really the first question you gotta ask yerself.
Good question. I guess he’s not a dependant as such. Then how about family members? I heard about Indian families (in particular) once here, bringing family members over to take advantage of the good health system. Any truth to this, and if so, what are the guidelines?
I haven’t heard of that, but dependents would normally only be wife, kids, maybe aged parents. Not brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, second cousins twice removed, etc.
And they still wouldn’t be allowed to work – after all, they would no longer be “dependent,” right?
What’s preventing your brother from just getting a normal tourist visa? It would be a hell of a lot less hassle all around, I’d have thought.
