…we are having to leave Taiwan on very short notice, and are not going to be in a situation where we can have our cats for a few months. I’ve found someone who can bring them in July as excess baggage, but don’t know anyone who could babysit them until then.
Ideally, I was thinking that someone who adores cats, but maybe who hasn’t been able to HAVE cats here because of a plan to leave at some point, someone who understands critters.
The cats are as follows:
Milky, a big round lummox who is simply the most affectionate cat I’ve ever known. Causes no trouble aside from trying to convince you that he is about to wither away with hunger. He loves crackers and bread, and is fond of potato chips (errrm, manic about 'em is more like it). 2 years old, male, neutered.
R2 is a tiny littel female. These are indoor cats, so we decided not to spay her, which hasn’t been a problem. She’s our little monkey, at about 6lbs (2-3 kilos), she’s the TINIEST cat I’ve ever known. She’s a love, but on her terms…she doesn’t like to be picked up, but LOVES attention…on the floor, and likes to walk around while being petted.
Ideally, I’d like to find someone who could watch the pair for us, they are great buddies, and the separation from their people will be hard enough on them, I’d like to have them together if possible.
Oh, PM me if you can help, or know of someone who can. I’m going to be running around like a headless chicken for the next week and getting me by phone will be a challenge…
Good luck with this - I’m sure you’ll find someone soon. You could try PMing minou, as she knows a lot of cat carers, but you should be prepared to pay for the service (if she is able to help), as she always needs to raise funds for her outstanding cat rescue and rehoming work.
And let me know if you’d like some advice on helping your male cat get back to a healthy weight before it’s too late, or some info on why leaving a female cat intact may not be the best thing for her.

Thanks, I will. I’ve avoided having R2 spayed because we don’t have good vets down where we are, its on the list of things to do as soon as she gets back to the U.S. (I’ve seen what the vets do down here, and she freaks in cars, so I figured taking her to Taipei or Hsinchu wasn’t a good idea). Ideally, yes. I agree, spaying is the best.
Milk monster…ermm…yeah, feeding times for the three have been a problem, but with two I think it will be more manageable…
I just gave my dog away (GREAT home, way up in the mountans, with an owner who adores her), so if I seem a little scatterbrainte :s
1. When exactly are you leaving?
2. Where exactly do you live. (You can add your location to your profile.)
(I can’t take the cats but I can help spread the word.)
The container is going Monday, and we are flying out 12/10. We are way outside of Hsinchu, but can deliver anywhere on the island. Ideally, just after next Monday would be the perfet time to deliver them. Hsinchu would be ideal…but…ermm…nothing about this situation is ideal…
