Did a baseball pitcher break his arm by pitching?

Watching the Taiwanese news last night, I saw a story of a baseball game being played in the US. Nothing remarkable there of course, but the pitcher threw the ball and then fell to the floor in pain and from my limited understanding, he had broken his arm by pitching too fast.

Can anyone confirm what happened to this guy? It seemed very odd indeed.

Yes. It’s a Detroit Tiget pitcher, Joel Zumaya, who was throwing 100 mph a few years ago. It’s just a little break near his elbow. He should be back next year.

Dave Dravecky came back from cancer in 1989 and was going strong until his humerus snapped in mid pitch.

Me, personally, I wouldn’t consider a gig with the Tigers, even pitching, worth busting an arm over…

Hey! :hand: The Tigers were in first place a couple days ago! :raspberry:

They are the biggest threat to the Twins Central Division supremacy!

Yeah, I saw that, you must be shaking in your barn boots.
Don’t matter, they’re still Detroit.
Hey, you-know-who-roots for them.

cheers for that zender. I’d never heard about that other guy before. Can’t imagine how painful that must have been…
