Dilema: how would you deal with suspicion of a sex offender

I’m not sure where to begin.

I’m seeking advice on here, but I’ve been thinking long to see if i should make this open to the WWW

anyhow,here’s the gist:

thru my work,I’ve been in contact with one customer who’s behavior is suspicious to say the least.

i first met him when a large group came to eat at my place, although our discussion was brief,it already included allusions of “young girls”, and even if I’m not one to judge on looks, his puffy red alcoholic face already sets the theme, along with the sick “beavis and butthead” style laugh…
that day,he shooed away some very young looking girls who were passing by the bar, they appeared to be waiting for him…

last night shortly before i locked the place down, he arrived alone.
we sat down and quickly he brought again the topic towards that same “young girls” style, telling me he was just waiting for a girl he’d been courting.
i soon found out she was 15.
he refer to her as cherry-girl.we all know what that means.
he later told me he’d first seen her working in a bar when she was 11(she work there coz her mum and sister do)

while waiting for his date,he told me various stories, one of them was that he’d just been to Vietnam where he had a run-in with the police for kissing what he called “a very young girl” in public.

his date finally arrived, and yes,she looked no older than 15 (and i would even bet she was younger)
accompanied by her also young brother.

they stayed 10 minutes, during that time he joked about the girl’s mum getting upset when she saw the text messages on the girl’s phone

the guy is Australian (only pointing out this fact so that peoples may give me better advice, not flaming a nation)35 to 40, and seems to be a regular here in the philippines.

i’m posting for advice,
i keep thinking about it,as it makes me sick

on the one hand,i know i am in a location where this type of thing is rife, it’s packed with foreigners who are with young womens (i have no problem with that,as young women from 17/18 have free will and know what they are getting into)
but this case, this guy ticks every boxes on the pervy child sex checklist

i run a business and i can’t afford to denounce him publicly

what do i do?
take it as a thing of life?
grow a thicker skin about those issues?
contact local authorities anonymously?
contact the girl’s parents?

:help:

Seems like that you can keep him out of your business, since it’s yours.

Can you contact the police and ask them what the countries policy is on pedophiles? Or perhaps invite a cop around so they can witness the behavior for themselves?

Best of luck.

I’d do that as well as provide some video evidence if possible, the two of them hanging out in public, walking into a house or room together. The cops like to bust guys like this once in a while to prove that they’re doing something about the problem.

Good luck.

I dunno about contacting the local authorities and managing to remain anonymous. They certainly may end up puting the heavy on you down the road. Is there not some kind of local organisation? I have read that local and international agencies are very active in Cambodia right now.

Edit: Mate, you’re operating a business in the Philippines, simply you have to have a solid plan for this kind of thing. Firstly for your own peace of mind, and secondly for the sake of your business.

exactly, if they take action,it’s going to make ripples, and at some point they’ll have to give their sources…that and the unknown integrity of local cops who are probably getting substantial sums to keep quiet (the guy as well said that the employer of the mum and sister of this young girl likes to “try the girls himself” upon employment… :astonished: )

actually,2 girls from London are doing some work experience at a local center for abused children…i think that’s gonna be my easiest way.they are regular customers too (ironic i know) so I’ll have a word with them

tell me about it,
had i been a mere holidaymaker i would have pulped the scumbag and took the girl to her mum…but i would lose business and family situation overnight here if i did that now, hence the advice.

thankyou all :notworthy:

I hope that’s really not your best hope. Two lasses from London on work experience? If that’s your only hope then talk vaguely. Something like, “so I own a bar here, what should I do if I suspect something? Who should I turn to? Do you know any agencies other than the police?”

Nail this dirt bag. Why do you feel your business is at risk? Sounds like you would be doing the entire community a great service. This is your business now, this guy is hanging out at your place and bringing his victims with him.

It is pretty clear to me. Nothing is more important to lock that guy. not even your business.
No excuses. The guy is a child offender and should be put away, or have treatment.
Did you asked him where he meets these “dates”? if it is the famous Angeles city, it might be slight different, but still, 15 ? simply to young. imagine one day the guy gets “weird” and things go badly wrong? Forget your business for 1 moment please.

well it’s always gonna be hard to give proper advice i know, for the simple fact that there a loads of details known to me only, and without which it is hard to be objective.

i thank you all nevertheless for any input.

those 2 girls i mentioned can make it easy for me to meet the senior staff of that center,i’m sure they will know what to do

i’ll update when i’ve received advices from aforementioned person

You know I think that Australia has the same laws as the UK. A citizen can be prosecuted for Pediphilia whether the act is in the home country or Abroad. If you know any of the guys details maybe you could send a tip off to the Australian Authorities. Possibly with a photo snapped on your mobile, or if the two girls in the bar have seen anything they could possibly support the complaint? Anyway, it seems that maybe you could raise the issue but not be identified to the local police- hopefully the Australian Police would understand you r need for anominity?

There is no direct proof that he did anything (and hopefully he won’t have a chance). I think asking the two girls for contact information of the local center is as of now the better option. First I would see what they advise, after that dablindfrog or the senior people there can still involve the authorities, foreign and/or local.

Contact the local media ===> www.inq7.net and try to connect with a certain Mr. Ramon Tulfo. This guy hits hard and has a special hatred reserved for foreign (and local) pedophiles.

Nothing like being lynched by a bunch of web posters.

Has this guy been convicted of anything yet?

Better not wait and find out… at least Dablindfrog has not turned dablindeye to the situation…

On the other hand I would be especially leery of the local authorities. Some are in cahoots, others are ordered to turn a blind eye to the goings-on by the local politician. And yes, they hate squealers.

I sailed with a philipino in tasmanian sea. He told the people like that was hung by the neck on the philipines if convicted.

Not a sad loss.

Au contraire - A filipino mayor (Jalosjos of I forgot which town) - convicted of raping an 11 year old. Campaigned from his jail cell. Re-elected as mayor. :fume:

I can’t see contacting the girl’s parents would be any use - since the mother and sister are working in a bar where the boss tries out the new hires. Probably the mother knows.

My first question is how do you allow youngkids in your establishement that late?
Then, knowing all your above bolded statement how in your right mind could you let that girl go with this guy.
What’s the matter with you?

I’m wondering why it would be so bad for business to do something about it? Wouldn’t it actually be good for business if people knew that you don’t stand for pedophiles? You make it sound like your business is in a location where pedophiles are protected, and those who opposed are frowned upon. The guy is not even a local, why would anyone NOT want you to tell on this scumbag? Weird post, DBF.

I don’t understand…

The thing is you don’t know who is gaining from it in the neighbourhood. It is, for example, quite feasible that the local cops are pimping kids, or at least taking sme profit from it. It could also be the local New People’s Army (Maoists). Watch how you fare if you let that particular cat out of the bag.

It is the Phillippines, after all.
