My friend wants to divorce his wife. they’ve been separated for over a year. He gives her money, but she refuses to let him see their son. She has money and he’s tried to get a Taiwanese divorce lawyer to take the case but the lawyer keeps telling him to go home and work it out.
Can anyone recommend a Taiwanese divorce lawyer that will take the case?
Courts should be fair to both parties and follow some sort of system of rules.
To be specific, if I say I have paid the fine and state this in court as testimony, I should not be allowed in the next court to say that I didn’t pay the fine. What I have seen with foreigners is that the Taiwanese can change their facts at will without any questions or repercussions. On the contrary, a foreigner may not change the facts.
In addition, I’ve seen foreigners sued for the same thing on three separate occasions by the same person. It was like sue until you win. Eventually, they did win, but only after suing that said person three or four times.
I, myself, have been threatened by court officials to accept what the plaintiff says and to agree with them. A judge even tried to trick me in a court by tying two issues together. Then, I reminded the judge that there were two issues and not to get them confused. Actually, she was just trying to start a fight. As soon as I reminded her, she quieted down and started showing me more respect in the court.
Basically, if you want specifics, I can write a book. I have even been told by some of the most prominent attorneys in Taiwan. It’s who you know and how much power you have. “The rich man is still king”
