Do both of us need to be present to apply for divorce?

My wife and I are in separate countries, we’ve decided on a mutual divorce. However I’ve read somewhere that one could appoint a power of attorney for some reasons. I was in contact with a lawyer who said I need to be present but the link below says different (however the info is quite jumbled up).

Has anyone had any experience or maybe could find out for me as Im not in Taiwan. Flying to Taiwan for just a signature is hard to swallow.

Thank you

I think your lawyer is mistaken. Talk to your TECO/TECRO (or embassy/consulate). They should have all the forms you need, and they should be willing to certify your signature and any other necessary documents for a fee.
