Do i need an exorcist?

Today while i was at work my Taiwanese boss approached me and told me she was pretty certain i have a 中邪 from travelling in Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. She said there were lots of 中邪’s in those countries.
Can anyone tell me what, exactly, this entails and what the hell i should do about it. I’ve never been superstitous but she was ready to take me somewhere to get it out of me.

basically, you laughing your ass off at the stupidity of it. Don’t worry, as a foreigner you get an automatic “get out of people harrassing me about ghost bullshit jail” card, which can be reused continuously.

however, as she is your boss, she might fire you if you do that, i kid you not. well then you go i guess if you like your job. you can still use your card to laugh at it though :) politely of course  probably an old lady in blue will wave her hands around you for a bit. if it involves taking off your clothes something is wrong

Tell her you don’t believe in ghosts.

If she insists on an exorcism, make sure the company pays the charlatans who perform the exorcism. That way you can experience a bizarre cultural phenomenon for free.

Is it in your employment contract?

You guys can laugh all you want, but I would at least go. This reminds me of a friend I had about ten years ago. Her sister had gone on vacation to some place in the middle east, can’t remember exactly where, but she’d come home with some souvenirs, one of which was supposedly an antique oil lamp. When she returned, her family thought she was acting very oddly. She visited her sister (my friend) at home one day, and my friend says her pets (dog, cat) went nuts around her sister, barking at her as if she was a stranger. After a few weeks of weird behavior a member of the family consulted our local equivalent of a witch doctor/medicine woman and this old woman told them that the behavior was related to something she’d brought home, and for some reason, can’t remember why, the family believed it was the oil lamp. She’d only been home about a month before she died in her sleep and the last time I spoke with my friend, no one could tell them the cause of her death.

Freaky.

I think you should smoke less weed. Get your boss to pay and enjoy the show.

Also, make sure it takes place during office hours.

My first boss in Taiwan gave me some “holy water” (he was Buddhist though and got it blessed by a rimpoche) to drink and sprinkle around my house after he worried about the same thing.

I figured it couldn’t hurt and my floors looked even more sparkling afterwards.

EXACTLY! :notworthy:

done. went and bai bai’d this morning after my kindy boss hung some kind of necklace over my head. apparently it turned to the left instead of the right, confiming what my other boss, at a different school said.
anyway, bai bai’d and came to my anchingban where one of the chinese teachers dipped a twig leaf thing in water and shook it all over me.

one more thing to write home about i guess. :s

Let me guess – she gave it a rub and out popped this genie, see? with three wishes. So she said: “Sure and I’d like a pint of Guinness ('cause she’s half Irish on her father’s side) that never empties,” and POOF! Bottomless Guinness!
So the genie asks what her other two wishes are and she says (she’s half Irish, don’t forget): “Sure and I’ll take another two of those.”

A sharp knife should solve that problem of yours, Wolf.
