The schools that I’ve contacted so far all require TEFL or CELTA. Do most non-buxibans require TEFL?
MOE jobs don’t, as far as I know. Which kind of jobs are you talking about?
Jobs from companies like Shane
Also can you provide me with a link for more information about MOE?
Shane is a buxiban.

Shane head office started demanding TEFL qualifications a couple of years ago. Before that they paid a little extra an hour if a teacher had one, but didn’t demand them because there wasn’t such an over-supply of teachers as there is now. However, their franchisees will employ anyone they like so if you apply directly through them rather than head office you might have some better luck.

Right, but I was told buxibans are more likely to accept you if you don’t have a TEFL than a non-buxiban.
I see, is this the same with other big chains? Sent ya a PM ![]()

In that case I have no idea. I’m not a teacher.

What’s a non-buxiban? You mean elementary, junior,senior high school?

Replied to it.
To be honest I’m a little out of touch with chain buxiban teaching. I believe that HESS require new teachers to take their own TEFL qualification. Have fun trying to use that elsewhere
. I honestly don’t know for sure about any of the others, but I haven’t heard of any chains requesting any qualification, beyond the MOE’s minimum requirements, as standard recruiting policy.
The MOE jobs in public schools require certification as a teacher in your home country.
So you are saying I need a certification as a teacher in my home country? What are some good options for Buxibans that don’t require TEFL?
Unless something has changed recently the majority of them. Giraffe, Joy, Gloria, Kid’s Castle off the top of my head.
I think anyone coming now should try to have at least a celta OR have lots of teaching experience
All the places ive applied have asked if i had both.
Global Village: took my cv said they would be in touch
Hess. online app. Emailed me back with the standard rejection letter
Kojen. Spoke to Nigel on phone. Nothing at moment but has passed on my info to their head office
GJun. by far the worst . Slightly strange feel to it. Walked into their office in Zhongshan Dist. 6 ppl chatting to each other. Like they had npthing to do. An 18 year old in broken engllish repeated to me need experience otherwise dont take your resume.
And these were buxibans (so in theory should be easier to get a job with one of them)
