They’re all just bored with their boring husbands/boyfriends.
My other half sleeps like a log when she’s with me, but give her a bottle of gin and her girlfriends on a night out and she’s like a mosquito on speed.

If it’s a disease, I got it. I’ve gone local in the sense that I spend one day -either Saturday or Sunday- in a coma, either sleeping or napping. Can’t do anything else.
All my female roomates did the same thing. But then heaven forbid they couldn’t haul a bag of rice home without being exhausted. I blames it on their eating disorders but the truth is that I also know Taiwanese guys here who also suffer from this “sleeping” disorder -especially my coworkers.
Dehidration, perhaps? Lack of quality sleep? Air pollution affecting your air intake and hence your quality of sleep?
By the way, why is this in “relationships” if it is more of a health issue? Or does it affect your relationship beacuse you wanna be active when she’s knocked out?
I could have put it in the health section. The truth is her napping annoys me and does affect the relationship, for instance we’ll be watching a movie and she’ll fall asleep during the first half, she even falls asleep during the movies she likes (and forces me to watch) like transporter 3 and the mummy returns 3. It’s annoying when you want to talk about something but your partner is sleeping on the sofa for no good reason and you have to call their name 10 times before they respond.
Same here. After three years, lesson learnt. Now I just get DVDs I want to watch. I still take her along to Blockbuster though, only because it’s amusing when this happens.
Her: Oh! So great! :yay: I want to see ****.
Me: Yes, it’s good.
Her: Really? When did you see it?
Me: We took it out last weekend remember?
Her: No. :ohreally: I don’t remember.
Me: That’s because you were sleeping… :snore:
Her: :fume:

Thank you, this just made my day. :roflmao:
I just told my wife about this thread, and she asked me to put in a good word for her.
(The following was written under duress)
She’s one of the hardest working people I’ve ever known.
She just got back (Tuesday) from a one-week biz trip on which she got an average of 4.5 hours sleep/night, and yet she came back as happy as a lark.
Ya gotta love her! . . .
We’ll I do, anyway.
I must say that I was shocked years ago when I waltzed into a bank a little after noon and saw dozens of people in the dim light conked out on their desks.
I thought, “This is what it looks like when a neutron bomb hits.”

It’s not strictly Taiwanese girls that do that though. I met a South African girl, while in Taiwan. who did exactly the same thing watching nearly any movie.
Looks like my SO is the exception to the ‘rule’ since she never sleeps. I go to bed most nights at around 10PM and often find her riding her exercise bike or watching TV like at 3AM when I go to the bathroom. And the next morning she’s up at 7AM, and in the office by eight.
Hmm … maybe she sleeps at the office? :eh:
If the sleeping pattern of your sweetheart is annoying, there are plenty of Starbucks around Taiwan, plus cafe, city cafe, Mc Cafe, and other coffee house around the corner, Taiwan has more coffeee shops than the States.
Or if that fails, give me a call, I have a collection of Chicken Essence gift boxes piled in a room (gifts from my chinese friends over the years), I can give some to your missus.
I’m informed it’s because afternoon naps are scientifically proven to keep one young and beautiful. I’ve also been told to stop complaining.

Wow, that sounds like the majority of my weekends. I should have clicked the first time we ever rented a DVD together in the UK, we went to the DVD store, I let her pick, she picked Resident Evil, an hour into the movie she tells me she ‘thinks’ she’s already seen it. I asked her how come she didn’t recognise the title, the box, the actors, the first hour of the movie… she just shrugged her shoulders. I’m the total opposite, I almost remember every book and movie in perfect detail and I very rarely watch a movie twice.
Well, at least you know my pain

Good call, but she won’t drink coffee or tea after 5pm… I don’t know about Chicken Essence, but our home is often filled with the ‘aroma’ of oily chicken soup, the mother-in-law makes it every morning, the chicken’s still got it’s head on and kind of looks like it’s just been punched out - nice.
Seriously though, does that chicken essence actually do anything?
Could be hepatitis B, which something like 40% of the population has. Chronic lethargy is a symptom.
Really? Isn’t that also the bad Hepatitis? The sexually transmitted one Pam got from Tommy?

Is it BRands essence of chicken? They even sell that stuff here in SF. Its awful tasting stuff but yes its pretty good nutrition apparently. I even give some to my pet cat if hes feeling a bit tweeky tummy wise. Seems to work. I myself can barely put away a jar. You do have to swallow it fast before your gag reflex kicks in.
Surely chicken essence couldn’t be any worse than cod liver oil? I know you’re supposed to swallow the pills whole, but there was this one time when one of them seemed to burst in my mouth and I’ll never forget the taste or smell.
I guess the pollution in Taiwan also contribute in making the peoples drowsy. Then you see those ads on TV about Red Bull, Mini Oligo, Come Best, Chicken Essence, and so on. Not only air pollution, but noise and visual pollution. I bought once a Come Best drink and it tastes like drug. They should be considered some sort of drug and here we have all these kids cramming to pass the school tests and consuming these drugs that are sold at the convenience stores.
