Do Taiwanese nationals need a schengen visa for Europe

Hi All

I am finding conflicting information regardinf Taiwanese nationals needing a visa for Europe. My wife who is Taiwanese and I ( British ) live in England and are looking to go to Europe for a few days, but hoped someone on here could give me a definitive answer or Link. I am worried that if I book a trip that we will encounter difficulties at border control.

Please help. :s

NO need for visa to Schengen countries for Taiwanese.

Thankyou. I thought so but sent an e-mail to the schengen office and they replied saying that Taiwanese nationals do require a visa. If they do not know then who will.

doesnt make any sense. ROC passport holders do not need one for schengen countries or the UK . Its written in so many places.

From the Belgian office in Taiwan …

[quote]Short term stay (less than 90 days)

  • Taiwanese passport:
Citizens who hold a Taiwanese passport with their ID-number can travel for short-term stays ( maximum of 90 days within a 6-month period) to the Schengen-area without visa.
However, travellers may still be asked to present one or more of the following documents: a hotel reservation, return ticket or some form of proof that you have sufficient funds to cover your visit. (cash, cheques or credit cards that are accepted in Belgium or an original financial support certificate)
