I didn’t hear them last time I was there. Are they still operating?
I encountered garbage trucks too, but didn’t hear any English either. I was wondering about that myself.
No. I haven’t heard any for a long time. Not for…half a year or so, I guess. I haven’t really been paying attention, but one day I say to myself, “Hey, where did all the talking garbage trucks go? I ain’t heard none in a month of Sundays.”
Oh well, they were pretty useless anyway. English language ability has not notably improved amongst the native Tainanite population.
Can you elaborate for those of us not in Tainan what exactly an English garbage truck is?
An english instruction institute on wheels … camouflaged as a garbage truck …

What about the English proficiency of Tainan’s sanitation engineers? Any stats on that?
