Do you like Taiwan?

Can you help me? Thank you very much. :notworthy:

Dear bv76106,

I clicked on the link and went through your questionnaire and I have a question for you. Have you asked your professor or anybody else to check your English? I cannot understand why you would post a questionnaire aimed at foreigners online without getting someone to PROOFREAD or EDIT it first. It really reflects poorly on you and your university.

I also am not a native speaker of English, so don’t see my comments as looking down on your level of English. I just can’t amagine myself posting something on a Chinese forum without getting my Mandarin checked by a native Mandarin speaker.

Just my thoughts. Good luck with your research.

Nude camp? NUDE camp? Are you kidding? They’re thinking of having a nudist camp up there? I am SO THERE, baby!

I “extremely want to participate” in the nude camp, so do my extremities…

Oh God - closet Germans!!

I “extremely want to participate” in the nude camp, so do my extremities…
It mentions the Nude Camp and water performances :astonished:

Goodness me, what a not satifactorily speak of the difficulty understand speach Englsih.
And then at the end there is no istruction as to which tab to choose, so I erased all my entries accidentally. I can’t be bothered to do it again.
Yes, to nude camp though.

This reply was soooo predictable… :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree with Anubis. You put a lot of effort in this questionnaire, so it’s a shame that some of the questions are difficult to understand.

For example “in country small below” seems to be a direct or automatic translation of 國中以下. No one without knowledge of Chinese will know what you are talking about.

As for developing Sun Moon Lake. Overdevelopment will only destroy the beauty of the place. If the focus is on developing more trails, opening educational or info centers, organizing eco-tours, I am all for it. Night markets, high-rise hotels, etc. will make the place only less attractive.

To Westerners, maybe. Not to the people they’re seeking to attract. Which makes me wonder why these students are approaching this website for questionnaires.
They either don’t have any idea about the government’s plans or are completely clueless about who posts on Forumosa.

Hint: We are not Chinese! The SUn Moon Lake development is being carried out in order to attract tourists from China, not tourists from the West. So, nightmarkets, highrise hotels, 24-hour KTV, etc., is exactly what the area needs.

Question 4 (transportation) leaves out MRT and City Bus…my usual forms of transportation.

And what the hell does “The traditional original resident lives the experience” mean? It sounds machine translated.

They already have. You should see some pictures of it fifty years ago. Beautiful it was. Now it’s a generating tourist attraction that encourages droves to dump their litter in the lake. Star gazing? How? There’s too much urban light to see that many.

I think there should be a limit for the height of new buildings around the lake.

Otherwise you will see more of this happening:

it is a pity that to make Taiwan attractive to the Chinese, they run the risk of destroying the few remaining spots of beauty and turning it into another China.

why do the Taiwanese not work as hard as possible to keep the place clean and the tourist development in check.

if you have a nice beach, it’s got no noise apart from the birds and the wind, clean sand, great views of forest falling into the sea down a rocky mountainside, and clean waves gently lapping the shore. then you build hundreds of hotels and associated night markets and shanty towns that displace the forest, ruin the view, fill the sky with smoke and light, pollute the air, and dirty the water. people still come but forget why… gee: sound familiar?

Just wait until the set up the casinos…

Sask. First Nations to manage casinos for Taiwan aboriginals
Saskatchewan’s First Nations hit the jackpot during a recent trade trip to Taiwan, inking a casino deal expected to earn them up to $600 million a year for 25 years.

The Saskatoon StarPhoenix has learned officials with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to manage one, and likely two casinos for the Thao Tribe, a Taiwanese aboriginal group. The arrangement was finalized during a recent trade mission by Saskatchewan First Nations officials that included major deals for Taiwanese companies to invest in northeast Saskatchewan’s oilsands.
it’s not a done deal yet, and I really hope it doesn’t go through.
Thao officials are waiting for approval of their casino-permit applications.

The one at Kinmen Island could begin construction within a matter of months, but the Sun Moon Lake casino may take longer, Thomas said.
Development around the lake is solidly focused around Japanese tourists on the high end, and mainland tourists at the mid to low end. Western tourists generally wander into the Starbuck’s, have a coffee, look at the lake and move on.

The lake remains beautiful so far, and the development is relatively tasteful. That being said, it’s just a pretty little lake. North America and Europe have equally impressive lakes by the dozen. My friends’ reactions from visiting the place usually runs “Oh yeah, OK, it’s a pretty little lake… what’s next?”
Question 4 (transportation) leaves out MRT and City Bus…my usual forms of transportation.

Traditional Aboriginal experience, of course. Yuan2 (original), zhu4 (lives), min2 (resident).

Oh…and yes to the nude camp.

The same thing happened to me! Which is too bad, because I answered “very does not want to participate” to everything, and included the comment “WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE!!!” at the end. I agree with those who have said Sun Moon Lake is far too overdeveloped as it is now. I can’t believe they are thinking about developing it even further… It’s already a disgusting place to visit.

If you want to see swarms of people, traffic and pollution, why not just stay in the city?

Chris uttered the two most feared words known to the editing world:

AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!  :yay: :yay: :snivel: :runaway:

I bet your bud was more interested in checking out the local betel nut stands.

Thanks for your ask.
I’m sorry. One of my classmate translated it.
And It’s urgent.
I know that my English is also poor,I will study harder.
Thank you very much!!! :notworthy:
