If you love horses NEVER go to 台中后里馬場
You’ll see horses that look worse than this. This horse looked good compared to another horse they had there.

Oh, and this is me trying to look like the sight of those horses didn’t disgust me. I think we should all go there and find the management.

Wow. That is so wrong.
Anybody know who to report these guys to? Or a cable news station close by?
That’s criminal.

You should see someone about having that growth removed from your chest bud. Sticks out like a sore thumb!

I agree. It needs to be investigated. There might be an acceptable explanation – the horse could have been rescued from elsewhere, it might be old and sick, etc., but it doesn’t look very old and the paddock/mudpit can’t be doing their hooves any good at all.
The place where we stabled our horses in Scotland always had a few old washed up nags around the place, and frequently got investigated by the RSPCA as a result of complaints from the public, but there was a reasonable explanation, as the stables took in rescued animals and nursed them back to health.
Please Bassman, you or your wife must follow up with Stray Dog’s information.
I will follow up on this one now that I know how.

I contacted the first group by email. I wanted to contact the RSPCA international complains section, but that page wasn’t working properly.
I just hope that something can be done about those poor animals.

I have to beg to get to carry that “growth”. Waaaaaaaaay better than stroller.
Besides, the kid is a babe magnet
Re. the RSPCA, call (if that’s OK) +44 870 55 55 999.
They might put you through to Paul Littlefair - he’s the RSPCA head of East Asia.
Good luck.

jesus christ almighty. what are they feeding it, biendang scraps? they have the nerve to call this a farm?
I was thinking along the same lines. The other ponies look OK. Too many ponies in such a small area, though - but I doubt whether there is any law against that.

good points.
An investigation will tell. I hope that it has been rescued.
A more common problem is that the owners just don’t want to take an animal to the vet when it gets sick. That is why we can often see one animal that doesn’t seem to have been fed enough. You see it all the time on the RSPCA Web site.
Anyway, I’m also really interested to see what TMIAH do about it. They should get to the bottom of it.
Right, so I’ll give the locals a chance to sort this one out before involving the international groups.
Geez, a crusade because I went to look at the horsies. I got more than I bargained for then

I’m sure the horses thank you!
This schocked me a fair bit.
After all, they are showing those horses to a fair bit of people, and it would therefore stand them in good steed to at least make sure that the horses were healthy.
Guess that if we get a cable TV channel on their bags, they will have to increase the feeding and vet care of the horses very fast.
Also, international pressure is one thing, the average Taiwanese going to those places will not care too much. However if it’s on local cable TV? It will get noticed a fair bit, and it will hurt their business. That’s most likely the only thing likely to count.
Poagao just got a scanner, so maybe I’ll be able to put up some pics of a horse I met up at Fuhsing village up past Wulai last year. It shocked me as it was so emaciated, just clip-clopping along the side of the road.
However, a few minutes later another came around the corner, this one with a rider – an old guy with a bad foot. That horse was in beautiful condition but very very old. They were huge – 18 hands or so.
Turns out the horses were retired racehorses from Kentucky that this guy was giving a pleasant retirement to and the thin one had a fucked immune system. Get this – the guy spends hours each day HAND-FEEDING the thing.
The horse acted more like a dog than a horse around him – it was very touching.
He let my wife ride the healthy one for about half an hour and it was pretty funny to see, as the old guy was pretty big and heavy whereas Jojo is small and pretty light – probably about the weight and size of a jockey. You could tell the horsie was recalling something from her past by the way she immediately perked up, pawing and prancing before taking off at a brisk canter. We had to commandeer a car full of tourists to chase after her as Jojo had her hands full. Pretty damned funny.
Upshot: Don’t get too hot under the collar until the facts are in.
I agree. But get the facts in.
