Does/has anyone past like beginner level, that can carry basic conversations, spent time actually meeting with classmates outside classroom time and practice talking? Is it helpful or does it just confuse or have a negative impact on accent?
I’m looking for ideas for conversation besides language exchange one-on-one and group, tutor, talking to the taxi driver…
I don’t think it hurts. Because at least you get to clearify things vs with locals when you got no idea. For basic skills, I think it’s always best to have someone being able to not confuse you vs someone who can’t explain it at all if you don’t get it.
I’ve met very few people other than Koreans that can speak Chinese at the level I can as a second language so no but only because I have no one like that to practice with. Nothing wrong with Chinese-speaking Koreans but they are either in China or Korea whereas I’m stuck in Melbourne.
