Do you split rent/bills with your partner?

Just out of curiosity, as foreigners we usually make more money than our partners (gf/bf/husband/wife) so do you split the bills/rent or just pay the bills/rent yourself since you make more money?

I wish… :disappointed_relieved:

And you want us to feel pity for you? that’s not going to work.

I never asked my ex . But she knew my wage as she worked for me too . She still gave 20,000 nt a month to her Mother . She did buy the odd meal . She did complain that my rent was way too high . Maybe the lady was correct :pensive:Her mum did give money back to her when she bought a place , so it was more like a savings plan really .

What do Taiwanese girls expect from their boyfriends or husbands?

I have often heard they don’t want to pay bills and keep all their money for themselves.

Many of them may tend to be like that statistically, but you should see individual girls.

I pay 100% but then again I am the breadwinner at the mo, she is a housewife . In the future I still would pay all of it I expect as salaries are so low.

Would be different if salaries were higher.

Some expect their boyfriends earning 25000 a month , to buy them a Gucci Handbag for 50,000😊most just have an in -built … be careful with money ,way of thinking , which in itself is not bad .

I feel you, brother. My (Taiwanese) wife is 5 years younger than me, just starting out on her career, and I swear I think she’s gonna pass me up within a couple years. And I’m not doing too bad!

There are worse problems to have.

So many Taiwanese workers are stuck in a mode of just doing what they’re told and not sharing ideas, collaborating, and taking the initiative. My wife is not like that and I think has benefited because her (US-based) company & managers have identified her as someone who can actually drive stuff and communicate back to them in a meaningful way. So she is getting promoted and making good money and I’m looking in the rearview mirror like ā€œoh fuckā€¦ā€

BTW we split everything. As my wife has gotten more responsibility at work and done less ā€œtaking careā€ of me (for which her mom gives her endless shit, but that’s a whole other story), she actually tried to pay for more and more stuff. Which I tell her, doesn’t really matter anyway, because we’re married after all…

It’s not that my salary is particularly low, but my wife works for a huge multinational, and I work for…um, nevermind.

A leading dispensary?

I believed he didn’t work at all until he brought that up.

Much worse…a publishing company. Talk about dying industries…

Grazing is just a hobby.

I believe in sharing if both of you work. Does not have to be 50/50 though.

Change industry, look for a better employer if your pay is poor.

I now earn 7 times what I started at. I got no leg ups, no connections , nothing.

You have a partner???

What does it mean? are you a lesbian? I thought you and me had some (distance) future together!
