Does Anybody look at the Aljazeera website?

I generally like a balanced view of the world. I watch BBC World all the time and rate it as bloody good stuff. As unbiased as they can be given that news is always subjective.

However I have taken to reading aljazeera.net as well to give myself some balance. I have to say the content is pretty damn good and not nearly as extreme as the US governemt would have you believe. It’s actually quite moderate.

Anybody else look at Aljazeera?

The BBC unbiased? Oh dear. Then, why does it have such a cozy relationship with the Guardian? and not the Telegraph? Hmmm? Just a coincidence that most editors from the BBC are hired from the Guardian? Really? If you think that the Guardian and BBC are unbiased, might I suggest that you start reading the Spectator and Telegraph to “balance” that? That way you can truly exhibit your “concerns” about remaining unbiased. By the way, it is not “news” that is subjective, but “reporting” and “editorializing” about said news that is.

aljazeera.net/

It is all in Arabic.

It is all in Arabic.[/quote]Except for the link that says ‘English’ the top left.

I get all my unbiased news from Fox News, CNN, and Fred Smith.

Perhaps you were looking for the term…“OBJECTIVE”…?

And the BBC is quite far from being ‘Objective.’

If you are reading al jazeera for ‘balance’ you obviously do not have a friggin’ clue as to ‘Objectivity’ in news reporting.

Slartibart:

I am so happy that you consider me a source of “unbiased” news. I shall strive to better my performance even more in upcoming weeks.

Finally, some (intentional) comic relief! Thanks!

Mmmmm. Well, I would say all news is subjective, so by definition is biased including the BBC, but there are degrees of bias. I don’t think you could compare Fox News to the BBC. So my point is, does anybody look at the opinions on the other side of the fence. To get some balance or objectivity?

Oh, the Telegraph I use as toilet paper, because the print doesn’t come off on my arse.

Feel free to cut me down with your sabres ladies.

I don’t suppose anyone has considered that the English translation might not perfectly reflect the Arabic content. . . .

Yes, actually that had crossed my mind.
