Is it the same species as the tea tree from australia everyone is growing here now for oil?
Apparently, it is different from Australian Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) but they are in the same family. It doesn’t help that Manuka is also known as New Zealand Tea Tree (Leptospermum scoparium)
Manuka essential oil comes from the same botanical family as Tea Tree (Myrtaceae) and is distilled from the Leptospermum scoparium (manuka) tree.
