We are still looking for bugs with the new forum. I’ve noticed that there were times when I did not seem to be able to bring up any of our websites on the Forumosa server - my browser would time out
If you encounter something like this in the next couple of weeks, and you use Windows, please do the following for us:
While connected to the Internet from a windows command prompt please enter the following command.
This will show the time in milliseconds on the internet from your local ISP to our site.
You can right click in the command prompt to mark and copy the results. Please email the results to us so we can analyze the data
Email your screenshot or paste the results into an email message addressed to admin (at) forumosa.com
this is the first time i have seeen f’mosa in two days! i get a variety of server busy messages, or timeouts.
one server message is generated by the phpBB software, and informs me that forumosa 200808 has exceeded its allowed user numbers (1028). now i dont see that one so much, but it was prevalent on sunday night/ monday morning.
the others are generated by my browser(s): safari and firefox (latest versions). at work (super fast T 1 million connection) i get timeouts mostly now.
That’s wierd Roach, we’re with the same internet provider, yet you have a lot more hops than me and seem to use a different network out of Taiwan…

Yep, same with me. Now is the first time in close to 2 days that I’ve had access. (Heaven forbid that I actually try and get something done at work )
Anyway, here’s the message that I was consistently getting:
Thank you for all the feedback thus far. When I posted up the original message, I did not have the SQL error in mind - that’s a separate issue and we are still trying to get a grip on the magnitude of this problem (ie. we don’t know why this is happening yet)
The original post referred to times when the forums (and its sister websites: www.taiwanease.com) would not be available. They simply cannot be reached, so your browser times out
Please keep posting here, on our blog at www.TaiwanHo.com/talk - they are helpful in our discussions with our tech support

I’m having random connectivity problems, one minute the site flies and the next I can’t access it at all and five minutes later it’s fine again. It’s not my ISP, as I can access other website and download stuff just fine, so there seems to be something else going on.
Hi TLS, I won’t argue with you. It is precisely this problem that I started this thread. Please try running the trace route command as described above (for Windows users) and send us the report. It helps our tech guys understand the problem. There are at least 2 distinct connection problems plaguing the website
