Don't be so eager to learn English and leave China?

This is an investigative report told in the style of journal entries. Not a brand new topic, I know, but I thought pretty well delivered:

Makes one wonder: If you’re going to be poor and taken advantage of in any case, why not just stay at home where you have friends and family?

Aprimo,

Indeed that is a very sad story. I think that many migrant workers the world over, certainly in America , could tell a similar story. However, I think I can understand why they leave their home/friendsfamily. First of all, I guess they are searching for something much better than they have at the moment, and so they go in search of a better life. However, the life they find is, as the story shows, quite bad. I believe they also may not really know what is waiting for them when they go to these jobs. Actually, I have to believe that they simply have no idea how terrible their new life is going to become.
It really is very, very terrible how some people will treat their fellow human beings in order to enrich themselves.

It never ceases to amaze me…anyone familar with the adage - “if it sounds too good to be true then it probably isn’t?”…(a .23 second search on Google came up with 985,000 hits… :sunglasses: )
