Hersheys chocolate sucks big time. But they make Cadbury under license, and that stuff is pretty awesome.
We have DOVE chocolate here that is really good.
Hershey cooking cocoa powder is pretty good. But not as good as the original VAN HOUTEN (the later singapore made ones were not as good).
TAPPL choclate. not bad at all. Cheap and good
Cadbury’s chocolate is really great… you used to be able to get it at Watsons but I haven’t seen it there lately
What no Cadbury in taiwan?? I think they came from OZ? Over here in the USA they are made by Hersheys as iv said.
Currently my fav chocolates (available here in the bay area) are Ritter (german made) milk chocolate with hazelnuts (2 bucks at trader joes), Toblerone ( about bucks for a nice regular sized one at trader joes) and LIndt with the orange. I buy them when on sale at 2 bucks (normally they are a bit more).
Guylian seashells (belgian) is really good . I loved those on the wan. And here i see them sometimes.
I dont buy the more expensive speciality chocolate bars , like dagoda or what not.
But i probably should try them.
Hersheys kisses are good tho.
Morinaga and other jaapanese chocolates on the wan can be excellent.

I have tried so many chocolates, even rose flavoured ones. One of my favourites was made my a small Cornish company using Valrhona (80%) and chilli. I love it I sound like a massive pretentious twat!!
Cadbury actually got a lot of bad publicity last year in NZ and Australia- and deservedly so- when they started using palm oil instead of cocoa butter in their chocolates in order to cut down costs, which in turn made the chocolate taste horrible. They also downsized their blocks but the prices remained the same, so a lot of people thought they were buying the same amount of chocolate. I’ve never been a fan of Cadbury though, cos I find it too sickly sweet, even the plain milk chocolate ones. Whittakers is the best chocolate by far

Why has the UK got some of the best chefs in the world? In fairness to you one of the best meals I ever had was in Las Vegas.

I know Yanks are the easy target to grind that chip of your shoulder but nobody else is banging on about mouth watering English food either. There’s plenty of top chiefs from the U.K. but they ain’t getting there by working up mushy peas and fish sticks.
I’m staying out of the British / US food contest, but I will say that last time I lived in the US I was astounded that 90% of my mother’s food came in a box of some sort. The 10% being meat, which was also packaged. And she was on a diet O.o; I was also shocked by sweet bread. Who the hell puts sugar in bread? It’s all America’s fault that I can’t get a decent loaf in this country, because Taiwan is copying Japan who’s copying America…
Possibly the same reason Americans keep winning the Baseball World Series?

Depends on where you’re at and your budget. A chocolatier in a semi-crummy strip mall a few blocks from my home (in the US) makes better chocolate than any European chocolate EYE have ever et. Not much more expensive, either.

Now for decent soft-serve ice cream in Taiwan, specifically Kaohsiung or Pingtung City? The only soft serve other that McDonald’s I see comes from the night market. And looks and tastes like it actually belongs in those special novelty bowls that the stall keepers serve it in . You know what I mean?

We don’t live in the city. With a lot of small children, going in is a hassle But for decent ice cream why not. Please share the Chinese Name, website or GPS coordinates. How’s the parking, that’s always a hassle. How are the prices? Will 6 ice cream cones break the bank?
Sugar in bread is a far worse problem here than I’ve ever experienced in the US. I avoid things like Wonder Bread in the US.

and you were more than likely on the strip. The local hang outs have even better food, like the trash run at big dogs (chicken fried steak smothered in gravy with two eggs over easy on top, a side of hash browns and half a bottle of Tabasco to top it off.) or the chilli reano at the hole on Main st downtown.
