I’m really pulling my hair out and need help. First I say I know fellow Forumosans created a great flash card package, but it doesn’t fit my needs.
I need a program or a word macro that will let me create double sided flash cards from an excel spread sheet. Column A being Chinese, and Column B being English. I’d like it to print all the Chinese words on one side of card stop or mailing labels and it’s definition on the reverse side giving me Double sided flash cards.
Yes, there are many programs that do that. The trouble is you need to select only one font size and one font set for the entire print run. With my Zuyin fonts, I need to use two or more fonts in a single phrase. If I can find a macro that preserves the text format of my original data, that would be great!
For those that don’t know the word “one” for example can be pronounced yi1, yi2 or yi4. Depending upon where it is used in the sentence. It all uses the same Chinese character but with phonics you need to choose a separate font for each pronunciation. Some words like seed or plant use the same character but a very different pronunciation depending upon the meaning or phrase. Do do this, publishers change fonts.
When I print the final cards, I would like the Chinese font to be large so as to see the bo po mo fo clearly and the English words on the opposite side to smaller as one character in Chinese can mean several things,
My source material for my flash cards is my daughter’s school’s Chinese text book curriculum.
I’d like this for free, but if you can give me a fishing pole instead of a fish, something that I can use for the whole course of study, I reluctantly will be happy to pay something. Thanks.
