Douglas Kennedy Assaults Nurses

At least the nurses that were physically assaulted weren’t driven over a bridge and drowned by this gravy training brat.  Real world rules don’t apply to him, he is just another Democratic version of the 1%.  I hope they throw the book at him and he occupies a cell for a year!

NEW YORK — A lawyer for a suburban New York maternity nurse says she called in a hospital alert for a newborn abduction when one of Robert F. Kennedy’s sons tried to take his own son off the floor for a walk.

A group of nurses says they saw Douglas Kennedy head for the door but they were not sure if he had permission to take the child. A lawyer for the nurses tells the New York Post (nyp.st/AfGmNY ) that hospital guidelines say a newborn can’t leave the ward without written permission. The nurses say Kennedy attacked them and injured them.

Kennedy has been charged with harassment and child endangerment in the Jan. 7 altercation. Kennedy and his wife say in a statement that the charges are “absurd.”

He was arraigned Thursday [/quote]

Appalling if true, though no doubt if this were someone you liked, or a general Repub good ol’ boy, you’d be focusing on the martinet-mindset of the unionized nurse force, with their ridiculous PC-inspired nanny-state over-reach hospital rules. Don’t allow a MAN to take HIS baby for a walk without written permission? What do they think is going to happen?

Actually as much as I detest sectors that are overly unionized and especially enforced by mandatory unionism (education and health come to mind here–why not give workers the choice to belong or not?), as a father of a toddler I respect the hospital rules regarding newborns. Kennedy was really stupid to give the nurses grief about this–such rules have been enacted to prevent kidnappings. Coming from a famous family–he should understand that.

In fact, when my toddler was a newborn and in the hospital, it would have been impossible to try what Kennedy did. In Canada, they put magnetized bracelets on the newborns. You leave the ward, the alarm goes off. Have to wait 4 or 5 days to give baby fresh air (unless you open the room window which was fine for us).

Nurses are protective of the newborns and should be applauded for being tough here regardless of the person’s background. :bravo:

What a spoiled little boy Kennedy is!

LOL New York Post, typical right wing media rag, looking more for the who than the what in any story.

I long for the good old days of real America, where men were men, father knew best, and they certainly didn’t take their cues from nurses when it came to the WELFARE OF THEIR OWN CHILD. I guess this is the kind of world people like the OP want, where institutions have greater rights and access to a child than the actual birth parents have. So classic, getting the blood sniffing lawyers involved, I guess there must have been a gaggle of them milling about seeing how this is where the ambulance chase ends.

What’s next, governments running amok wantonly destroying families, separating fathers from sons, so the child will grow up without guidance, a slave to the state and all its social welfare systems? This is classic liberal BS right here, can’t the government and authorities stay out of family affairs? I am surprised the OP is so pro intervention, sad really…oh well I guess this is how the OP and his ilk define as ‘family values’

It depends on the situation Deuce. In another post in IP, there is a discussion about the arrest in Canada of a man whose daughter drew drawings of him with a gun fighting “make believe” monsters. They arrested him and got social services involved. A sweep of his home turned up nothing. In my opinion, that’s a huge violation of individual rights. The teacher, social worker, arresting officer etc. should all be fired. Would be different if she came to school with bruises or something. But arresting him based on her art? Fucking PC crazy.

On the other hand, a nurse standing in defense of hospital rules that protect newborns from being kidnapped or taken away during those first few days? I am 100% with the nurses. Again, anyone from a famous family should be especially thankful for those rules. What a douche bag Kennedy is.

Dude, he could have taken the baby with the proper authorization. He didn’t have it.

My kid was in infant ICU for 11 days. I wanted him out for various reasons, got the paperwork and the dr’s signature and took him home. It took an hour.

Pushing a nurse trying to do her job, allegedly kicking her? That’s fucked up, yo.

You do know that Kennedy works as a journalist for Fox News and the NY Post and Fox News are owned by the same person right?
