I saw a couple of huge campaign posters today showing Tsai Ing-wen standing beside a candidate for the legislature who is wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt.
Is this something that might create a stir?

Other than that? Nah! Most people will just wonder why the bloke’s wearing a t-shirt of Citizen Smith.

The T-shirt I saw was not the famous Che T-shirt. It was a white one that said “Che Guevara” on it.
What, like a laundry label? Maybe it really WAS one of CHe’s?
che is a brand here, they even have cute young che ts here. as to why they wear stuff they do not know the meaning… beats me.

Seriously though, I find it funny as hell. The bureaucrat-turned-politician that helped negotiate Taiwan’s accession to the WTO (and the liberalization that accompanied that) standing with a candidate that is wearing a t-shirt of a murderous thug that often shot people with such capitalist inclinations. Idiots.
Considering her support of civil society mechanisms and DPP activists that continue blathering about the bad old KMT days, it again shows her inconsistency that she has no problem with her candidates wearing t-shirts that celebrate murderers.
I wonder if Turton has brought this inconsistency up on his apologist blog that supports the DPP with almost a Maoist fervour?
Perhaps that’s the next photo opp. Tsai with a Mao shirt.
Or considering the DPP’s/Hoklo adoration with all things Japan, why not a shirt with a Rape of Nanking theme?
