Hsieh says he, too, will pursue policies to expand trade links with China, but also stressed the need for Beijing to give Taiwan the respect it deserves - and more room in the international arena.
Hsieh says that more than policy, attitude is the key: how Taiwan treats China, and how China treats Taiwan. He cast doubt on Ma’s expectation that China is willing to co-exist with Taiwan: Beijing says there will eventually be re-unification, whether peacefully or by force of arms. [/quote]
What respect does Taiwan deserve under the DPP administration?
What attitude is the right key? Like the ghetto defiant attitude that has marked the current administration.
You mean Frank would sell out Taiwan, if they treated him like a king. Because policy is not important, attitude is.
I don’t think there’s any doubt that if Hsieh wins the presidency, he will have a much gentler “attitude” towards mainland China than CSB. No predictions on anything meaningful like the three links, but I’m reasonably sure he at least wouldn’t reject the pandas as weapons in the unification war.
If Frankie Goes to Hollywood wins—Swami Brian predicts record high levels of corruption. You will have to buy a bicycle lock to wrap around your wallet every time you walk past the Presidential Arcade/Palace/Office (whatever the official term is for that building) to keep Fab Frankie from running outside to steal it.
But before Frankie gets his chance there will be a Ubber Theft committed by forces currently in power. A swindle of such magnitude as to boggle the mind. But Swami Brian must keep his prediction/premonition under wraps at this point…but mark my word, you heard it hear first. It will be the largest single theft by a single Taiwanese politico in the history of modern Taiwan.
take care,
