They have the rooms so women don’t need to breastfeed on the trains. But hey, people watch porn on the trains. ---

Why do I see commercials telling people to be considerate when reading newspapers (I can count on my hands how many times I’ve actually seen someone read one on the MRT over the past few years) yet the biggest problem is people using cellphones and being oblivious to their surroundings. They won’t move, get up for older people, or pregnant women. ---

Yes it’s allowed but it won’t likely happen in our lifetime. Notice that that event was women breastfeeding in a group at a very large station. If they were serious they’d have got on the train and done it. “She often felt uncomfortable doing so, as strangers made awkward or strange facial expressions, she said.” ---

I would imagine it won’t happen as the vast majority of women would not want, or indeed need, to breast feed on an MRT. The average MRT car has way too much going on for most babies to feed anyway. Mt wife had no difficulty finding places to breast feed either of our children, in many MRT stations it’s actually the staff break room that is turned over to mothers. Staff chucked out and mother given the key! It is however a protected right in Taiwan for woman to breast feed their children pretty much anywhere, there have been a couple of cases where mall security have been fined for prevented women from doing so. ---
