I’ve got Internet from Hinet (I assume DSL of some kind because it plugs into the phone line), and when I’m connected to the Internet, I get terrible (electronic) noise on my telephone line. I remember back in the UK we used to get provided with DSL filters/splitters - little adapters that you should put on each phone line in your house that creates a separate channels for DSL and the phone line and through that, clear up the noise.
Do you guys think that’s what I’m needing in this case? Any idea what the Chinese for DSL filter is? I tried to show a picture of one in an electronics shop and explained the problem in Chinese but they didn’t seem to know what I was talking about… They should be really cheap so might only be available in hardcore electronics places or something… Any ideas?
Thanks, certainly something I’ll look into if I can’t find these filters. The thing is, it seems that people on the other end of the line can hear me find, it’s just noise my end. I’ve tried a couple of different phones, so it’s definitely something with the line and also the noise is only there when the DSL modem is on, so that’s certainly the cause.

[I work in the DSL business]. What you need is a splitter. Probably it wasn’t installed on your line for some odd reason. Ask CHT to visit you, its free.
PS. Its Splitt-ahhh in chinese
