DUI bu qi song

Did not think you would be a rap fan @Dr_Milker. But actually he has a nice flow. Like actually really nice. But sadly, I don’t know if it will ever be more than commercialized stuff he puts out. The only 2 Asian rappers I like are MC Jin and M80 Shawn.

I personally also like this. Idk why. I thought it was so weird but I guess that’s the appeal.

I’ve been listening to rap since the days of Afrika Bambaataa and the Sugar Hill Gang. It’s kind of a love/hate relationship. All the violence and misogyny of gangster rap isn’t exactly providing kids with positive role models, but musically it can be pretty interesting.

One of the most fascinating things is how universal rap has become…you find rappers in every country and language, all with their unique twists. MC Jin was pretty cool…too bad he was on the scene for such a short time. That Korean one reminds me a little of Death Grips, another really weird group.

Is it only me that thought this thread were about traffic safety song?

Man, this thread sure veered from the path of “Dui bu qi” and foreigners singing Chinese songs.

Reading the first post, I understood it, but when I saw the topic title, I imagined a Taiwanese song saying something like Stop DUI.

Something like DUI 補七松? :idunno:

I guess you missed his big coming-out tweet on Sep 2.

DUI 不起 / 捕緝 / 不齊 etc. song

Songs are what causes DUIs here at KTVs.

Awwwww shiiiet, I just saw that.

Props.

Here’s my contribution to the thread.

Girlfriend hates it because it’s too 台/Tái. I find it highly offensive, but still love it.

I’ll always have an affection for Wo Ai Tai Mei, I Love Taiwan Girls. The story is great translated. And the beat hits the spot perfectly.

I’ve been asked how I feel about the song. And I don’t really know. I guess i should find it offensive but it’s just such a stupid song I can take it seriously enough to be mad about it. It’s just such a bad song.

When the controversy of that song came out, it just made me think of this one somebody showed me after I first came to Taiwan.

MC Hotdog and 張震嶽 are two of the few Taiwanese artists I can listen to.

MC hotdog actually was one of the few rappers that could perform in china. He was actually making a lot from shows there. Seems to be popular there as well. Forgot what he did. But now he got banned there as well.

According to this article it was because of “vulgar lyrics”:

But I think he was probably suspected of being Taidu like 大支.

What ?_? I remember that song from back when I was studying Chinese, what happened to them?

Sucks for him as he was getting paid to do shows there. I was talking to someone on his team. He was one of the only foreign rapper that China let perform there and his shows were very popular. But the party has always been pretty weird about musicians they allow. One minute you’re in another they ban your any number of reasons. But rap has also been somewhat anti establishment and counter culture. Maybe not so much mainstream rap anymore that’s commercialized. They don’t like it there.

But it seems there’s more and more Chinese rappers in the scene there. I just haven’t heard of any of them.
