Dumbest things your buxiban boss said was

Let’s give a list to enjoy! I am tired so I can’t start the ball rolling…

“Let’s start a bushiban!”

Oh, that was me. Wife never lets me forget it.

It isn’t what they SAY, it’s what they DO. A certain boss at Kojen, for example, spent a lot of time complaining that the foreign teachers didn’t prepare enough, but then wouldn’t let the kids’ teachers use the only functioning computer at the school, and fussed when we took up space in the teachers’ room.

“If you don’t do what I say, I’ll fire you.”
To which I responded, “That’s fine. And if you say that again, I’ll quit.”

Took the wind right out of his sails. Two months later my contract was up and I was out. Especially funny moment came up a couple weeks after I left. He called me up at 8:00 am, begging me to show up for a demo at 9:00. Before I was awake enough to realize who was on the phone, he was offering double my previous wage, just to show up.

Threats are such a silly way for adults to operate.

Ooh…the shoe was on the other foot. How mercilessly I would have wielded that power over him! You should have told him to triple or quadruple it, and also stipulated certain other conditions.

After a series of interminable meetings when we had little chance to get any work done, he called us in into yet another interminable meeting to discuss why so little work was getting done.

When I reported a fellow teacher who had been displaying an inappropriate interest in the kids, I was told “Well at least he follows the curriculum!” This was just after I was reprimanded for teaching kids how to actually read instead of just memorizing stories.

You’re hired!

He’ll never do that to me again. Idiot.
