DV software for editing

Anyone got any suggestions…

I have a DV recorded to DV, that I need to edit, esp. to adjust the lighting and coloring, because it’s too dark.

What software can allow me to do that?

Also, since the original is a VCD format, what software can import that and let me edit it.

I used to use Moviemaker 1.0 but 2.0 doesn’t allow it to be imported.
Moreover, there are no features for more serious editing of frames.

Suggestions needed!

I tried bunch of them. I suggest Sony Media Softwares Screenblast Movie Studio v3 or Vegas v4.

You can search this thread. I think there was a discussion about this subject before.

Ehm - what is it now: DV or VCD? If it’s a VCD, look for a directory named “MPEGAV”. There is a *.dat file (or a few) inside, that is actually an .mpg (MPEG1) file. You can use Virtualdub (It’s free and good.) to process it.

If your video footage is on a miniDV or D8 tape, then it doesn’t matter what the original format was, now it is DV. However, you can still use Virtualdub and “capture” the footage onto your computer first, I just tried it out.
