Google’s main news page (currently) headlines this story from E Taiwan News… With millions of international readers, perhaps a chance for Taiwan and it’s media to get a little face time with the world all while putting in a useful warning about tainted China produce… or not… The mangled, nonsensical English is so bad it could be a quote from a Sarah Palin interview… :blush:

not surprising really. google constantly bows to china and will probably do anything to make taiwan look bad in the worlds eyes. china says “jump” and google screams “how high?”

Except that in this case, Google doesn’t have to do anything. Taiwan (etaiwannews is a purely local site) does a VERY VERY good job of making itself look like a nation of backward buffalo cart-driving yokels all by itself, without China’s help. :laughing:

This has nothing to do with China. I guess that Taiwan News is putting these stories on to its website via machine translation from Chinese to English. The way it reads suggests it is machine translated rather than just written by someone with poor English skills. It certainly does make them look stupid.

I just posted on another thread. Taiwan News current policy is ‘Chinglish Works’

Last week they reported that China’s new rocket is ‘well-composted’ and Taipei Major Hau’s environmental policies made people inconvenient.

The Taiwan News Chinglish is obviously human translated. A machine wouldn’t render ‘mayor’ into ‘major’.
