Early signs of baldness, what to do?

Whenever friends of mine take the piss of my receding hairline I always remind them that balding means too much testosterone.

These people with full sets of hair and John Edwards-$500 type of haircuts have a lot of estrogen for a male.

Well Iā€™m 24 years old and Iā€™ve just noticed my hair seems to be thinning. The advice you guys are giving me is just donā€™t worry about itā€¦ I can accept that but If I could I still rather keep trying to preserve the hair I have for as long as possible.

Iā€™m sure sooner or later I wonā€™t care If I go bald or not, but for now I really do. Actually, I care more about how attractive I will be if I lose my hair. I know it depends on your confidence regarding your own balding when it comes to women, but I always felt Taiwanese women were always a bit rougher to baldies. Any insight?

I once heard wanking will cause hair to grow on your palms. I am sure this hair can be transplanted to your head.

A win-win situation, if ever there was. :bravo: :bravo:

not true. Iā€™ve recently had to buzz cut (not shaved - so canā€™t comment on that) but have also been working out and, despite being older (32), Iā€™m getting good reactions. Better than ever. I think itā€™s confidence, but itā€™s not some kind of voodoo - just look after yourself - face the facts, be a man, women dig it. Whose that guy from Fast and Furious? The short one? Girls think he is hot. Heā€™s balding but no one cares.

Get a buzz cut and get cut! Donā€™t get juiced thoā€¦thats stupid!

I think Taiwanese women are more interested in the appearance of your bank account (or jobs) than you.

mate - thats it! its all about the fucking credit card!

Danny de Vito.

heā€™d f**k you

Going the hair transplant route is a huge gamble. If your hair thins out more to say a norwood 7 your hair transplant that covered the front will be useless. Hair transplant companies will tell you to do more when they know you are wasting your cash.
Transplants are only useful if you have a little thinning and you wonā€™t thin out any more - so a huge gamble.
You will also have a lovely scar across the back of your head that will make it difficult to shave it off in years to come.

If you hair at the front is growing to to a shorter length then you can crop it to that length or a little shorter and you 'll be OK.
Maybe in 5-10 years you if you thin out more you can look at alternatives.

There are other alternatives.
A hair piece, or what a friend of mine (recently) had - a pigment put into the skin on his head that make it look like he has a full head of hair when shaved down/cropped very very short (a few celebrities have had it done).

Dying the scalp only works if you still have hair, if its really thin all it will look like is crap. If you get to that point might as well embrace it or just shave it.

The whole hair loss industry is all based on false hope and selling you stuff that is expensive and you must use it again and again to hopefully have any effect. I am of the opinion that scientists donā€™t even know what causes hair loss or at least how the whole process works. The current treatments are all intended for something else and there is no treatments, drugs or natural solutions that are designed to stop hair loss. Stem cell has somehow become the magic cure-all for any and all diseases and one would ask, is it really as they say?

ā€¦ start panicking!

I wasnā€™t talking about dying the scalp I was talking about this:

hishairclinic.com/

noooooooooooooo!

That really doesnā€™t sound like a good idea. That website reminds me of this:

Or much better, use a razor. Much cleaner look. And the girls love it, I promise.

Iā€™m not balding but I buzz my hair very short every few weeks. Personally, I think it looks better, and I save money on shampoo and other hair products as well. I think itā€™s a major mistake to ingest chemicals or apply chemicals to your scalp. That always struck me as unhealthy, and itā€™s confirmed now that some posters have said one popular drug weakens the libido.

Combovers always look terrible. Itā€™s amazing how many men sport them. And bald spots mixed with otherwise normal length hair isnā€™t fashionable unless you start wearing sweater vests and join the accounting profession. And do you want to date a girl whose turned off by baldness anyways? Thereā€™s going to be trouble down the line with that sort. I think the sooner you transition from willing to accept it to accepting it, the better off youā€™ll be.

Itā€™s just kind of hard for me to accept this already in my life. It seems way too early to start worrying about something as stupid as hair loss. For now it really is hitting my confidence levels quite a bit and everyday I wake up a little worried that my hairline will recede more and moreā€¦

How many of us are bald anyways? I regret not making a poll now, it seems like there are quite a few of usā€¦ (Iā€™m the newest member I suppose)

When you see it in the flesh you would have NO idea it isnā€™t real hair or follicles - and that is when you know what it is.
And not one person said to him, ā€œWhat is that on your head?ā€. Most said nothing, some said, 'youā€™re growing your hair!! and some said, ā€œhave you lost weight?ā€
It also shows that most people donā€™t really care about hair loss as much as balding people think.

Itā€™s not a tattoo like the gay porn star here:

No it doesnā€™t. There is no scientific correlation between testosterone and baldness.

Thereā€™s not any set timeline for people to be affected by baldness. A kid I grew up with started losing his hair in high school. By the end of college he was nearly bald. I have a cousin who has been losing his hair since his early 20s. Look at the bright side. Itā€™s not a disease. Itā€™s not going to kill you or harm you. Youā€™ll just lose your hair.

All the more reason to just shave it off and be done with it. :2cents:
