Earthquakes 2020

Yes, I do have the Cell Broadcast setting ON, but never get any Earthquake Alerts (or any other alerts for that matter), though my partner gets them, and we have checked settings - both are the same.

As far as I understand the phone contract is tied to an ID or ARC number, right? So the only explanation there is, is that the government tells the phone companies which people are important, and who doesn’t matter. Only important people get the messages.

Logical, no?

My experience as well. These notifications seem to be arbitrary.

Possibly. as the Prepaid SIM Card in mine has not got my name or ARC against it - rather a friend of a friend who lives at Neihu.

They just notify people that are in ‘danger’ zone.

Interesting, so the right side of my bed is a danger zone, the left one isn’t :ponder:

Kidding aside, yes the location would be based on cell tower, and with two different carriers even phones at the same location can “look” apart.

In theory it’s possible.

I think it is the phone itself. My LG got notifications, my ASUS doesn’t. Same number, same carrier. Same 4G.

Just felt a 3rd earthquake in Tainan today.

Magnitude 3.9 earthquake felt today. In the UK

3.9 is “like a large explosion” :joy:
