ECC survey on Asian cities says Taipei living is "fair"

Original Title: Do YOU agree with this?

do you agree with this assessment?

I don’t think Manila should have come ahead of Taipei…but the assessment was ok. Notice how they didn’t include the factors that Taipei scored badly on.

Probably:

  1. Pollution
  2. Food
  3. cost of living

yA I really cant imagine MANILA outranking Taipei??? whats up with that??? They gotta be on crack those judges

WTF? How in the holy hell did that rat-infested pusshole Manila come out ahead of Taipei in anything? I mean, I can see Manila pulling ahead in the amount of homeless beggars and starving children to step over in the streets, rusty tin shacks that serve as the main habitation for most of the population, the open sewers and garbage piled up in the streets, traffic jams that back up jeepneys so that it takes 4 hours to move 4 blocks, the muggings and knifefights that go on in the bad parts of town (95% of the damn city…), rampant prostitution, poverty, petty crime, and did I mention the starving children begging for money on every street corner?

What kind of graft did the Manila Chamber of Commerce slip these jokers? Third most livable city in Asia? WTF?!

Oh, wait, now I see what their main criterion must have been. Sadly, Taiwan seriously lags behind in that area…this island will never attract tourists when it’s impossible to get around without having to use Chinese. You can’t even read the train or bus schedules without basic Mandarin ability.

It would be imprudent to agree with anything printed in The Taipei Times. Unless it was in Sunday’s Chuckey’s News Of the Weird.
Sad story, but too slanted by too many degrees.

China seems to have no problem.

I wonder how represantative the poll is, the group is limited to members of the ECC, the number of participants seems very limited and no information is given about the distribution (i.e. how many people polled live in Manila compared to Taipei etc.).

Ya it may have been a poll of say 100 bankers who travel around the areas capitals and stay in five star hotels and “sometimes” go out into the street.

those people dont live like us “normal” folk and of course wouldnt represent the views that we have.

would be better to have a poll of say 100 english teachers in asia or something? or better yet say 3000 english teachers in asia

English teachers? i thought you say “normal” folk.

This study is BULLOCKS. Simply because only a 520 or around HIGH INCOME ECC members apllied to the survey. If you can afford Priority Care Centers then your judgement is already fake as you pay for improved services which can not be scoped as “average” same for housing and other indicators.
I read the outcome in the ECC magazine and I can barely read it as granted.
For what I have seen and experienced AND compared, Seoul was even better on a lot of domains vs.Taipei. For me, this survey is far from accurate.

How can the Philippines rate high in food? it’s the first country I’ve ever traveled to where I was truly uninspired.

and Mods. can the title be changed as it is not clear for our readers. Me think a lot of us should read it.
Call it ECC survey on Asian cities or so… Thanks!
