If you have a bank account in the U.S., most major banks’ Apps have a function to take a picture of the front of the check and a picture of the back where you have signed it for a mobile deposit.
how do you provide a bank account for direct deposit if you don’t even get a refund? I think most of us here don’t even reach the threshold for paying taxes.
Even if you don’t reach the threshold to pay taxes, it’s best to file for record-keeping purposes with the IRS.
You still have to give any overseas bank account details to the U.S. Treasury, which has a much lower threshold.
I’ve filed my US tax return every year since arriving in Taiwan, but have never earned enough to owe any taxes, so like gavmasterflash I’ve never needed to provide a bank account number on my tax return. Am I in the minority here?
I think I’d still rather not want them to have my bank account info because I don’t want to make it easy for them to get their stinkin’ paws on my money.
