Embrace the Pacific: Traditional navigation and Samoan dance workshop

As to commemorate half a century of existence and activity in Taiwan, the Tien Educational Center will be holding an event entitled Embrace the Pacific: Exchange in Austronesian navigation culture and art in the Pacific in its Main Hall (1F) on July 5th, 2013 (Fri) from 18:30 to 21:00. The young Fijian sailor Setareki Ledua will take you on board of his canoe for a forum on traditional navigation and the internationally renowned Samoan dancer Tupe Lualua will share her knowledge and passion for Samoan Dance.

An exhibition of Fr. Benoit Vermander, whose paintings have been displayed in Asia, France and the USA since 20 years, will also be shown simultaneously on the 1st and 3rd floor of the TEC for two weeks.

六月初,台灣太平洋研究學會邀請到來自斐濟的青年航海家Setareki Ledua和薩摩亞舞蹈家Tupe Lualua來台進行為期六週的交流活動。將近一個月的時間裡,他們走訪花蓮、台東、蘭嶼、屏東等地,與部落族人、青年與孩童交流,分享舞蹈與航海體驗,也學習台灣原住民的文化。7月5日晚間他們將在耕莘文教院向大家分享他們與台灣的相遇。此外,當天亦將舉辦畫家笨篤個展,其作品曾於亞洲、法國、美國等地展覽,歡迎您前來參與!

Having organised events and workshops throughout Taiwan for the past month with Taiwan Indigenous Peoples, they will also share their experience.
