No amount of tired limp lame outta breath end of season rag tag players is going to get the Poms off the hook. England have had their day in the sun.
The English claimed that their forward pack would be too much for their smaller Aussie opponents… yet they got out scrummaged and out run by an as yet muture Aussie team.
Bring on the Tri-Nations games… some real rugby about to be played

Customary grace and modesty from an Aussie whose team were nearly put out of the World Cup by Ireland. One point, in case you’ve forgotten. Ireland, fercrissakes !

Weren’t so arrogant then, were we ? [/quote]
We wouldnt have been put out… we would have faced england in the semi’s instead of NZ… so your 1 pioint loss was a good as 100 ya still lost… but then so did we in the final… but at least it was a great game
Aussie are, on the whole, still a much better team than the All Blacks, and that’s compounded by the new coaching staff and a decent number of new caps finding their feet.
That said, I’m still backing our boys to knock the Aussies on the head when we face 'em
I’m all for the Aussies rubbing it in. The English used to talk about leaving the Six Nations because the rest of us weren’t worth playing against. Breathtaking arrogance. The Aussies can come back to Landsdown Road any time they want. The English will be welcome when they lose that misplaced arrogance. Which should be now.
After years in the rugby wilderness the English start a comeback and all of a sudden they are gods. Without Wilkinson the English are nuddin’.
Reduce penalties to 2 points and lets see how the rest of the team ‘support’ little Johnny. He is a points kicking machine. The English game is so dull to watch these days.

STV, the expected modest reaction from a typical Aussie, yes, you guys beat us and deservedly so, we played crap, but i suggest you go back and look at the match stats. The Aussie scrum were outplayed in almost all areas.
You guys won because of your defense and that your backs made and took their scoring chances very well indeed, Rathbone had a blinder, in comparison the english backs were pathetic.
This is not an englishmen trying to make excuses either, the better side won, but lets get a little perspective on the game. It is a bad defeat, but not as bad as the 76-0 from '96 i think.
Bring on the Tri-Nations.YES YES YES.
Its a shame Rathbone doesnt want to play for South Africa.I dont think we(SA)can pay him enough.
At least we have something to be happy about and its called SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE RUGBY.
Im praying that the Springboks will be better this year.I dont think you can compare Ireland and Whales with NZ and AUS.

Yes English had the possession rucks and mauls line outs least amount of tackles by half and yet still got flooged where it counts… the last area… the scoreboard… 51-15. Now if Australia had the 65% possession the best of the raucks and mauls and lineouts the score may have been 150-15.
So you should be thankful we spent a large amount of time practicing our defensive game, cause England doesn’t have one.
