English speaking psychiatrists in Taiwan?

I was wondering, for expats who would like to continue with their psychiatry/ therapy sessions while in Taiwan, are there any good English speaking psychiatrists? I’m also concerned about the availability of certain meds, in my case, zoloft (name brand).

Thanks,

The Community Services Center has a link on its website for counselors and might otherwise be able to refer you if you contact them.

That’s a good sevice to know about. We may be moving to TW this summer and have one son being treated for bipolar. Are there other western trained mental health experts other than in Taipei than anyone knows about or has experience with? We’re looking at maybe Hsinchu, Chiayi, Tainan, Taichung, or Taoyuan.

Yes, Zoloft is available in Taiwan.

Have a look at this thread on depression, in which there’s info about English-speaking mental health care in several cities in Taiwan:

I think it’s called the Tri-Services General Hospital in English.

I think you’re right, thanks

Thanks. I’ve also confirmed zoloft is available in TW through someone in TW.

That would describe me too. BTW, I called the pharmacy at TriServices Gen’l to double check this for you, so no worries!

I think Zoloft is available here. I have a friend who is taking it, and I assume he got it here and not from home, as he hasn’t been back home for a couple of years.

One thing I was warned about getting zoloft in Taiwan is that you have to make it very clear to the pharmacist that you want the actual zoloft brand, not generic. Otherwise, they’ll tend to give you the generic brand, even if on your perscription it says “zoloft.”

If I go to Taiwan I definitely want to continue my therapy sessions. That means finding a competent English speaking psychiatrist, which probably is going to be a challenge. Does anyone know if Singapore have higher quality mental health services than Taiwan? It seems most of Asia is lacking in the mental health department compared to the West.
