Never saw any locals with beards…they can’t grow them. So it must look weird when beards are only on non-Taiwanese.

Years ago, a cartoon: Cute Taiwanese buxiban teacher looks at her bearded foreign colleague, says “I bet you would look good without that beard.”
He rushes off to shave, revealing weak-chinned wonder- she says “uhh, never mind.”
Reason I’ve always almost worn a beard.
