English teachers nabbed in drug-ring bust (Part 2)

Unfortunately intelligence and caution are no match for physical addictiveness, generally. Why else would so many otherwise intelligent people smoke tobacco?

And while not permanent, how about cocaine increasing the risk of heart attack 24-fold in the first hour after using it?

See now those people just weren’t using tobacco or cocaine intelligently enough!

I wouldn’t consider anyone who smokes truly intelligent. Smoking slowly kills almost every aspect of a human being…from their body to their mind. To slowly consume a poison that negatively affects almost every part of your body :astonished: :noway: … People have had to have limbs amputated due to the long term effects of smoking…how messed up is that? I’ve smoked the odd cigarette in my life…but to allow myself to become addicted to something as pathetic and boring as a cigarette…no thank you. :loco:

I think this is going off topic :offtopic: :offtopic: :offtopic: Please PLEASE for the sanity of forumosa, let’s not go down that smoking road again. Thank YOU1!!

Hence ā€œotherwise intelligentā€.

People’ve lost limbs - and more - from driving like a dickhead too, but that doesn’t stop you. And what about people who’ve been physically damaged by drinking? Does that stop you drinking?

How very nice. I’m glad you haven’t let it make you self-righteous at all. Now what do you think about the argument at hand - where should the line on drugs be drawn? As you say, smoking messes you up, yet it’s legal. Drinking messes you up, yet it’s legal. Pot messes you up, and it’s illegal. So that’s obviously not where the line is drawn. What say you?

There aren’t many drugs that will fluck anybody up permanently in the physical sense. Even alcohol leaves the system in about 3-4 days. It’s the emotional bit that is the problem. As the creatures that have the biggest brains, you and I, is this not true?
I personally think that tobacco and the evils within is the worst drug to get over. I applaud anybody who gets over THAT.

As for the guy who got caught with a whole buncha coke, I give or offer him no compassion or remorse. I would like to know more about this case, but I;m willing to bet that he was some sort of supplier in some way. nobody needs that much dope. Call me biased. I’ve probably met him.

And you’re a dumbass if you even let it in your home. They caught him, one way or the other, RED HANDED. If not, tell me.

If he was supplying to x amount of people, those people were either ignorant to the immediate dangers involved, or ignorant about the long term risks. Or they knew, or thought they knew what they were doing, when they where injesting these drugs. Cocaine can give you a jones unlike no other. Some people will be in command of it for ten years, and then lose it one day, and throw away their entire families the next 2 months.

Keep that shit outta my new high, Taiwan.

I’m fed up. How far do I have to run, to keep myself together, and away from this shit? Fuck these guys. Taiwan is nice. Taiwan is good. Taiwan is safe. Keep your shit out of it. Keep that shit out of it. I’m a teacher, for fucH sakes. I’m respected and I respect that with everything I have.

And FucH you if you are a user or a dealer. Especially a dealer. No Quarter given, If you’ve managed to get your ass over here. You dumb enough to get caught in this situation, you probably did something wrong, through knowledge or otherwise, and good people fell. Burn, AssWipe.

my 2000 bucks
Give me the facts, then make an example outta this guy
apologies for shit writing. You offer me a ā€œlineā€ I’m gonna b break your nose.

Interesting how no one seems to care where he got the drugs from. He sure as hell didn’t bring them over from Canada himself. He bought it from some cop, or someone in government here…like most dealers do (I’m guessing). Why focus on one fairly small time dealer…they should have kept the whole thing hush-hush until they got his supplier…then again his supplier is probably one of the cops co-workers. And that’s how they knew where to find him in the first place. I’m just talking out my ass.

But the point is…back home they wouldn’t make a big deal…or any deal…out of one fairly small time dealer…they would just use him as a stepping stone to climb the drug ladder to someone who really deserves to burn. But because they found a white rung on the ladder…and no one wants to expose how much drugs there really are in Taiwan…they will just stop here.

I can imagine that the cops bungled the investigation like Mordeth says. I can also imagine that they are now trying to squeeze the investigation to see how far up the ladder they can go. Too late, I bet.

Apparently, somebody mailed him the dope in hollowed out books. If this went on for a while, somebody must have noticed, and let it happen.

My boss asked the foreign teachers at my school if we knew anything about this. That’s not the kind of question I want from my boss, or anybody.

Situation stinks.

Sorry, but just what is it exactly that constitutes a bigot? I did respond, but I was deleted, fair enough I abused the poster, but it had nothing like the venom of the above.

Please review your thinking canucktyuktuk, or where you drunk at the time?

TVBS just had a short report on the case, without quoting any sources, as usual;
it says DJ Chozie and this entertainer called Duncan were found ā€œ90 % positiveā€ for drugs. Since Duncan is a foreign national, that means he’ll have to spend some time locked up in a rehabilitation center. No mention about what is happening with the others involved.

Just my take, but for those crying for the rights of the innocent…

This is not our country. The government does not have any obligation to adhere to what we believe is the definition of justice in our culture.

It’s a shitty situation and I think it sucks that it’s sucks to be persecuted for soft drugs like marijuana which has far less a harmful effect on a body than alcohol or tobacco, but there are signs from the moment you enter this country by plane that drug trafficking is a capital offense. Even if you think it’s wrong or something else would happen if this had taken place back home, it doesn’t matter because…and let me emphasize this for those who are hard of thinking…

it’s not your fucking country; you have only the rights the Taiwanese government gives you.

I feel bad, but only to a degree. If they allowed themselves to be in that situation, knowing the government’s view on drugs, then it’s on them. It is not for you or I to tell how wrong the government is because we are only guests here (except those few who do have citizenship). You don’t move into someone’s house and then procede to tell them how to run it. We are here only because they allow us to be.

Unalienable rights do not necessarily extend to aliens, even those with an APRC.

This whole thread: I don’t think I’ve ever read such a load of sanctimonious, self-righteous posturing shite in all my life. I am surprised, and slightly embarrassed. With few exceptions, you all sound like a bunch of sixth form convent girls. Jesus. :noway:

Still looking for how you are contributing to the discussion…let me know if I missed your point.

Off topic a bit, but HGG is right. I made a bigoted post according to Wikipedia : A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own.

So be it.

That said, I broke the rules of this fine site and my post should be deleted. It was over the top, and I should have bit my tongue.

Shoulda farted but I shit my pants.

I would still like to hear some facts on this case. If that is possible.

There seems to be another ā€œCanadian teacher selling drugs in Taiwanā€ story brewing.
A Canadian engineer who goes by the local name of Bai Weiqi and his Taiwanese wife were arrested down south for planning to sell marijuana at a beach festival in Kenting.
The guy came to Gaohsiung to teach English at a buxiban two years ago, then married a local, and set up a business in Kenting selling tacos.
The story claims the guy told the police he didn’t know selling marijuana was illegal, he was selling it mainly to foreigners, and nobody had told him it was illegal. All this according to a local news story.

Tacos in Kending? Were they any good?

there was talk of some guy getting busted in a situation like this quite a while back - 6 or 8 months … or is this more recent but just sounding the same?

I just can

Hello

DRUGS ARE BAD. What is the point? If you do something wrong, you pay for it. Everyone that does drugs takes that risk. So just because many people do it means that I shouldn’t complain about it??

There is no difference between hard or soft drugs. Weed is a drug. Who decides what is legal or not? The government. If you go against the government, you get in trouble.

I can’t believe you would try and make people that are anti-drugs feel bad about it…I’d rather sound like a Catholic schoolgirl than a druggie. Thanks very much.
