I think National Taiwan University has a global MBA program that’s exclusively in English, but I’m not sure the acceptance rates are high since it’s apparently the best university in Taiwan.
National Cheng-Chi University also has a MBA program that’s in English, from what I gathered on Forumosa.
Now if you want to do a MS or PhD in the sciences, most of the coursework at places like NTU, Chiao-Tung or Tsingha will be in English, and your research advisor will most likely speak enough English that it won’t be a problem.
I’ve sat in and audited a couple of chemistry and physics classes at NTU. Some of the younger faculty members speak perfect English, especially those who have just recently returned to Taiwan after their postdoc work.
Ok, the MBA thing is played out, I’ve only seen about 700 programs offering an all English MBA in the 'Wan. How about other programs? Does anyone have any info on perhaps a masters in education, history, political science, or anthropology?
You’re asking about programs that locals typically have no appreciation for or are reserved for those who scored just high enough to get into a decent school but not high enough to get them a seat in the engineering or medical school? Might be kind of hard to find an English-only program for those majors, seeing how they’re probably not very good or attractive enough for the local students to begin with.
Edit: ok, correction. Apparently NTU has an English homepage for their poli sci program. There is no mentioning whether those programs would be available in English, but they do have a dual degree program with Waseda University in Japan in poli sci, so it might be worth looking into there.
Surely someone would have a PhD program for information management? The island is positively littered with people with Masters degrees in this subject. Maybe we need an ‘education in Taiwan’ forum.
Thank you for supporting this idea! I’ve been pushing for one for a while. See:

To the OP: look at the links in thsi thread, lots of valuable info.

There are plenty of choices in something that is not MBA. Chengchi has:
- Communications
- China Studies
- Taiwan Studies
- Asia Pacific studies
nccu.edu.tw/english/
And that at graduate level, undergrad there are also plenty of courses.
As to Fortigurn, the Academia Sinica has a nice selection of English taught PhDs -and I am not talking about the handsome guys who work there.

Is, you’re Overseas Chinese, no? You get special placement in local universities, plus preparatory courses. There is a nice Chinese studies program for foreigners in Shida, taught in Linkou though. Art is difficult to be taught in anything but Mandarin here, though.
Taiwan Studies has a strong background in anthropology, and they do a lot of field work, especially with local aboriginal communities.

NTU pol. sci. courses are taught entirely in Chinese (with the possible exception of a couple of undergraduate classes). However, most of the teachers speak fluent English, and they might let you submit coursework in English (although this is not encouraged).
Thanks a lot Icon.

Scuttlebut has it that their international MBA is not 100% English eityher, but I may be wrong.

The NTU MBA has two separate tracks, one in Chinese, and one in English. The English one is 100% English.
Pol. Sci. is in Chinese, but then it is advertised as such. I think NCCU have a bigger range of courses in English.
I agree that we should have a “Studying in Taiwan” forum. Have the administrators looked into this?
Yep, we need a mod. Volunteers? I can’t because the system here blocks any extra software. Heck, even You Tube -
and we cannot bring our own computers.

I don’t mind offering my services. Is it a lot of work?

I don’t think we may have the amount of fighting as in say, IP, or even Pets forums.
