I love local history and culture. I bought a lot of really cheap records from the junk store and and found a treasure trove of old Western Bootlegs, Chinese “Art-Songs”* and all sorts of stuff. My player is an Arky suit case player.
What the hell. I grew up to shortwave and AM radio my "Hifi was a Sears SilvertoneRecord Changer back in the day. I do not need high fidelity.
A friend gave me this beautiful ancient AM/Shortwave Record Player. Unfortunately, the motor stopped turning. I’ll include a video later.
Anyway, I would like to find budget technogy fans into salvaging and repair or know of good repair shops. I’m into old records, and other old Taiwanese tech.
My current problem is, I’d like to find a 78 RPM Needle for my suitcase record player. Find some more classic Taiwanese campus and local pop on vinyl and just share with other fans.
There was a place up until 2020 at least which fixed hi-fis etc. I had some vintage stuff fixed there. No idea if it is still there. Looking on Google Maps, it may have gone.
Here is a screenshot from 2018. The old guy in orange was the repair man who worked for Sony previously. He had some slightly younger guy who kind of took over by 2020. I got the impression he was fronting it and the older guy was fixing things upstairs by then.

This building had a load of stores selling Hi-fi equipment back in 2019.
You could ask at some of the stores if they still exist:
There were one or two stores across the road and the streets around there - selling hi-fi stuff. Ask them if they are still there, if they know any repair guys.
If you do venture out, and they are all gone, kindly update the thread. I am curious.
I believe @Taiwan_Luthiers does repair work like this. Maybe he’ll drop by and have some suggestions.
I fixed up some old Denon DP1800 turntables that acts up if it runs for more than an hour. The problem was old caps and loose solder joints.
It could be as simple as that, just dried out electrolytic caps that needs replacing, or it could be dead motor. Does it turn at all, or is it doing weird things?
