Enteroviruses can be found in an infected person’s
feces (stool),
eyes, nose, and mouth secretions (such as saliva, nasal mucus, or sputum), or
blister fluid.
You can get exposed to the virus by—
having close contact, such as touching or shaking hands, with an infected person,
touching objects or surfaces that have the virus on them, then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth before washing your hands,
changing diapers of an infected person, then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth before washing your hands, or
drinking water that has the virus in it.
That’s a nasty virus. It can pass from one to another without showing symptoms on the first one.
My wife got infected earlier this year and I’m pretty sure she got it from our son, who got it from another baby in the daycare.
My son didn’t show any symptoms, but my wife had some rashes and bumps especially on hands and feet.
We are very worried because she was also pregnant, but there was nothing worst than losing some skins on those places.
Scary, tho!
When I worked at a Kindy they always talked about the enterovirus like its the black death. I did some research and those viruses can be tough to get rid of in the house. I think they recommend anti-bacterial soap for the hands and alcohol based cleaners for the house. The enterovirus is very new to me though, I thought it was just some silly chinese medicine thing.
Yeah and you can’t really treat a virus, you can only manage the symptoms. A virus normally just needs to complete its cycle while your immune system fight it off.
The best defense against a virus is living healthy by eating well with healthy foods and plenty of water and rest, before, during and after.
I’m still fairly new to Taiwan and haven’t yet received any vaccinations while residing here, does anyone know if there’s a vaccination for this available yet?
