Erica Jong's Surname

I have a question about Erica Jong’s surname (maiden name: Mann). It was, of course, inherited from her second husband, Dr. Allan Jong, a Chinese-American physicist.

The surname the way that it looks and is pronounced can be described as a respelling of either (中) or (张 or 章), or even as (江 or 姜). Again, this is what happens when you’re not in China: the Chinese surnames (and other non-English surnames) seem to get changed in one way or another.

鍾 comes to mind too.

I found a website that calls her 艾麗卡‧瓊, but I have no idea how authoritative it is.

The only way to find that out for sure would be to ask Dr. Jong himself, if he were still alive.
