Ireland is flying primarily as a result of being in the EU. Anybody who moans about the EU is probably unemployed even though there are loads of jobs.

That’s what the UK did. The 1975 one was clearly considered to be a bad decision. Oddly enough it was the ‘left’ that voted against membership in that one. They feared immigration would reduce the power of the unions. Funny how politics changes over time.

What would Poland do outside the EU? How about the million of Poles that live in EU countries . How about their 10s billions of EU cohesion funds. Cross border trade with Germany.

Well, a lot can happen in 40 years. But we honoured that result. The original vote was NOT for what transpired in the long term. It was for a European Economic Community, which made sense.The gradual plan of change was never discussed or made public, but edged in little by little, by later Governments.
The Brexit Referendum was very clear but sadly the Remainers will not accept the result.

Nobody was going to accept the result.
It’s of little interest to me as I’ve Brexited myself. I would guess that there will be a recession and then the economy will stabilize at a reduced GDP. Northern Ireland will be a headache, no change there, and the Union will probably break up. I’m quite happy for Scotland to go their own way.
