Europeans Request US Protection

What are we to make of this? A request from the anti-war greeks from the evil guntoting cowboy nation? hahah guess when it comes to your own protection that makes a difference but fuck anyone else right? Why didn’t they ask the French and Germans? not to protect them but at least to stop selling weapons to rogue nations for a few months prior to the games to minimize the chances of a dirty bomb or nuke attack or something. Hahah what a bunch of sad, sad fuckwits. Where’s MT when you need him/her to really have a good laugh at the left’s moral turpitude. hahahah

ATHENS, Greece (AP) – Responding to a request from Greece, the United States committed 400 American special forces soldiers to help protect the Olympics, a U.S. counterterrorism official said Wednesday, as security costs for the games swelled to a record-breaking $1.5 billion.

Another typical anti french/german diatribic post from Fred, -------YAWN------, it is all getting to much for him. :noway:

Yeah fred,

Let’s just forget all about the tourists who will travel to Greece. Great idea. Greece is asking for help because they know that the Olympics will be a very important target for any terrorists. Greece is a small nation with limited resources and a desire to help protect all, Greeks and non-Greeks, who are planning to go watch the games. I say give them all the help they need. It only makes sense to do so.
After all, fred, hasn’t enough blood been shed in the world already due to terrorism? Do you really want to to see more innocent people murdered simply due to the political stance taken by Greece? I repeat, give Greece all the protection it needs for the Olympics. Now that you think about it, fred, don’t you agree this is the best thing to do?

DO NOT FEED THE TROLL

And it’s an offensive hate-filled one too.

Just withdraw the invitation to the United States to take part in the Olympics. They are just a bunch of pumped up on steroids meatheads who are bad losers to boot. It will make the Olympics fairer and safer.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooring!

Did the Greeks also request assistance from the militaries of the European nations?

Fred’s ignores the fact that German armed forces cannot just act outside of their country as bound by the German constitutions, except for peace keeping missions under UN mandate.

No doubt the US has a gun to the collective German head preventing the Germans from amending the German Constitution.

One suspects that if they did change their constitution that fred would start talking about the re-emergance of old Germanic tendencies to invade the rest of the world, the return of Nazism etc etc etc

Speculation.

Your point being? The German armed forces are of a defensive nature and this is reflected in the German constitution.

Don’t accuse others of speculation when you yourself make such stupid remarks. Else prove it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Speculation.[/quote]

Ok I’ll change it to a statement of fact (TMT style)

Fred will start moaning about the return of Nazism and the re-emergance of old Germanic tendencies if the German people vote to amend their constition to allow freer use of their armed forces

That indeed is a fact. Time will tell, perhaps, whether it is true or false.

Au contraire.

I believe Germany is now a “civilized nation” so I think that it has the responsibility to get more involved, when it does then the world will be better off but right now, the nation sells military weapons to dorks like Saddam and then where are they to pick up the pieces. Even Japan pays for the benefits it gets from the US led peace and prosperity sphere. Right now, my beef with Germany and Germans was their previous deluded “pacifism.” Now, they are becoming a much more credible world actor again, but hey, they have just as many dumb liberals as we do in the states who would not recognize a security or strategic concern if it rang them up and said sprechen sie deutch?

I am not quite ready to let this go. Here is a member of the EU and NATO and who does it turn to? The United States. BUT how do those who so vociferously posted regarding American militarism feel about this? Is it not ironic that the Greeks were also strongly against the US action in Iraq and now they want US protection? Where are the French? British? Italians? The Germans have “peacekeeping forces” in Bosnia and Kosovo and Afghanistan, why not Greece for the Olympics?

Here is a perfect example of Leftist inconsistency. HOW can it be acceptable to protect Greece with evil American forces? How? Cannot Greece just have peaceful dialogue with the terrorists ahead of time to suss out their “concerns” and to deal with their “issues?”

Greece’s problem with it’s military is that it is based on the Theban model whereby the soldiers were always up each others’ bottoms. They want the Americans because as Abu Ghraib has shown, the American miltary prefers to be up others’ bottoms not their own. They are just covering their bases/bottoms, don’t you see?

BroonArse

Fred, why the anger here, Greece as a country has approached the US for help with security during the Olympics. As to why they chose to ask the US rather than anyone else then i suggest you ask the Greek government.

This is not a situation that requires peace keeping troops or any other such considerations.

Your so called irony in your repeated attempts to f*ck over “the Germans” really is getting very boring. BTW, i thought you agreed to be careful or explannatory in your use of terminology, glad to see you keeping up republican traditions.

Traveller:

Your frequent defenses of the Germans is getting equally boring? I have mentioned that Greece is a member of the EU and I have mentioned that the British, Italians, French and Germans could all have been contacted. How is that racist? ironic? or singling out the Germans? These are the four most important military powers in your EU or didn’t you know that?

So lay off the German angle. Nothing in the above statement can be seen as in any way singling out the Germans. You are the one that is now doing so and there is absolutely no reason for you to do so. What is this oversensitivity that you have toward criticism of the Germans anyway?

I am sorry I know that Traveller is a bit simple at times so here is my sop to him and his “sensitivities.”

Why didn’t Greece er rather the Greek (or Grecian? haha) government (is this not clear here? Did you think that I meant why did not all Greek people contact … the following…) the British GOVERNMENT, the Italian GOVERNMENT, the French GOVERNMENT AND the German GOVERNMENT. Since this is not clear to our rather simple Traveller, let me reiterate that the point of my post is that the Greek government should have contacted the respective governments of Britain, France, Italy and Germany. Now, did anyone OTHER than Traveller think that in my post I might have been suggesting “people power” and that I wanted the average Greek citizen to contact the average citizens of Britain, France, Italy and Germany and that somehow they would have the effective authority to negotiate this or to successfully do so? Christ Almighty Traveller (snap snap) wake the fuck up. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Fred, get off your high horse. :unamused:
I am NOT, repeat NOT defending germany. Yes Britain, France, Germany and Italy (much easier way of putting it) could have been contacted, indeed they might have been, we do not know. As to why Greece chose the US then ask Greece instead of using it an excuse to lambast other european countries (yet again) unfairly.

As for pulling you on your choice of words for describing the countries, it was one of principle, you did agree, in fact you volunteered to change the terminology, are we to assume that you are not a man of your word. Perhaps then we should assume that you are like your idol GWB, a lying egotistical, unprincipled ****.
