KOBE — A 7-year-old girl who was fatally stabbed Tuesday in Kakogawa, Hyogo Prefecture, told ambulance crew just before her death that her assailant was an “adult man,” the city’s fire department said Wednesday. A police investigation found that the suspect stabbed Yuzuki Unose in two places from the front with a cutting tool, police said.

According to the investigation, Yuzuki was stabbed just before she entered her house when she returned home on her bicycle from a park about 300 meters away, police said, adding they believed the killer either waited for her near the entrance or followed her from the park.

Yuzuki returned home alone from the park after she was told by the mother of a classmate that she should head home as it was getting late. That was around 6 p.m. Tuesday, just before she was stabbed, police said.

The bicycle that the girl used was parked properly at a bicycle parking area next to the house. Yuzuki was found lying on a low stairway that connects the street and the entrance, police said.

Police have yet to discover any weapons. They are working to discern the specific type of cutting tool used in the attack.

Police also said that the carcass of a beheaded cat was placed several meters ahead of Yuzuki’s house a year ago and that they will investigate to determine whether it is related to the girl’s murder.

The site is about 1 kilometer west of Befu Station on a Sanyo Electric Railway Co line, with a junior high school and an elementary school nearby.

Yuzuki’s mother, Erika Mima, 27, and her father are divorced. They had been living with Erika’s father. Yuzuki’s mother alerted the police at around 6:05 p.m. Tuesday after finding her outside. Emergency workers found Yuzuki bleeding from her abdomen and chest and took her to hospital but she was confirmed dead about 1 hour and 40 minutes later, police said.

“Even in Japan”?

Rape of Nanjing ring any bells . . well obviously not in Taiwan, for most.

Just read somewhere Japan is the biggest producer of underage pornography in the world.

The Japanese soldiers seemed to have no problem slaughtering with vicious cruelty the Chinese in Nanking and elsewhere. However, modern Japan is apparently THE safest country to be in, in many ways. Generally speaking. But they do have their vicious sickos too, just like Taiwan does and elsewhere.

Very sad for this little girl. I hope the perp is caught quickly and spends the rest of his days behind bars.

Seems crime is on the rise in Japan as it is everywhere.

I seem to remember reading about a Japanese guy who was a cannibal who escaped to Paris. Many years later he was a successful chat show host or something similar. Does anybody know who I’m on about?

EDIT: here he is japundit.com/archives/2006/02/22/2020/

there is a lot about him online and even a youtube thing which I didn’t look at

What is happening to this modern world of ours?

And so things were oh so better back in feudal Japan?

Mate, there’s nutters doing nutty things all over the planet, always has been and always will be. Did you just wake up to this?

Sickos everywhere? Well, I just looked in my fridge but I didn’t see any.

With more than 6 billion hairless monkeys on the planet there are always going to be plenty of evil goings on.

Yes, very sad for the little girl. But incomprehensible agony for the parents. I’m not sure a non-parent can fully grasp how horrific such an event must be. After nurturing a child through conception, pregancy, birth, babyhood, toddler, learning to drink, eat, crawl, stand, walk, talk, get dressed, playing together, growing up together, having such an incredibly close bond from the very start, to have it BLAM. . .

Suddenly completely gone. Over. Nothing left but photos and memories.

Terrible. It’s no wonder most parents have serious trouble with drugs, alcohol, divorce and loss of their employment after death of a child. It must be horrible.

I, too, hope they catch this guy quickly before he does it again. Incidentally, it seems clear the guy’s a total lunatic. What on earth could drive someone to murder a 7 year-old?

The internet sends more info around the world. Sadly the world has known lots of grisly crime and inhumanity and injustice since just about the time that man became man.

Still , is there something to be done?

Besides just becoming immune to it, and resigned to it? Something on a governmental level? Educational level? I have no answers.

With respect to MT’s earlier post. Although I have never lost a child, one of my extended family (a 5year old girl) was murdered by her own mother. I can vouch for the fact that nothing prepares you for THAT phonecall and everything that comes after it.

The father has come through the ordeal pretty well considering what happened (I won’t go through the very compliacted back story here), and I consider him one of my heroes for never touching the bottle, doing drugs (considering where we are from) and all the rest of it. Just an ordinary guy…
