Excess Mortality Predictions for 2020

Covid has killed a few. It looks like Influenza B might kill fewer than usual. Covid related suicides, domestic violence etc figures will be higher.

My guess is the overall excess global mortalities for 2020 will be around +100,000 over the average.

Probably higher than that. The USA alone had well over 100,000 excess deaths as of a few months ago. And that’s not including COVID-19 deaths, suggesting the death rate may be higher. But not many countries report excess deaths accurately, if at all.

Wouldn’t a % difference (increase) in mortality rates above average global death rates for the previous year be a more reasonable gauge for evaluating our armchair coronor predictions?

If that’s what you want. I’m looking for a fixed number. In a couple of years time I’ll be looking back at this.
