Does anyone else out there trade these (QQQ, DIA and SPY)?
If so, how do you trade them?
I’d like to learn more. I’ve got some ideas myself I’d be willing to share/collaborate with someone.

Sorry, I do a little options trading, but the indices move too slowly to make it worth trading them IMHO.
Umm…you don’t really “trade” them. You buy them like stocks and hold on to them for longer-term investment purposes. They’re basically index funds. I think you can buy them with pretty much any brokerage account.
Yeah, I understand all of the buy & hold arguments. And I’ve obediantly followed them for the last ten years. The problem is, it’s not making me rich. Sure, last year was nice, but in market conditions this year, the traders out there are slowly eating away at the account balances of the buy and hold crowd.
You ever the sense the market is ready for and upturn/downturn before it actually happens? The QQQ trades 100 million plus shares a day making it ideal for a market directional bet using a deeply liquid instrument. The kind of trade I want to do is the .20 cent per share gain on 20,000 shares.
Any ideas how to consistently measure these intuitive guesses?

Buy and hold isn’t going to make you rich, but it’s going to increase your chances of having a nice retirement. I have friends who are making a nice living off the stock market, but they make it their full time job.
If you have $500,000, you could basically go trade any deeply liquid instrument (currencies, commodities, etc) and make some good money (that’s how the aforementioned friends are doing it). Of course, you could also lose it all.
